Hi again
Happy B'day to Pitlanepiglet.
Hugs to all those not well.
2nd load of washing on the line, I'm fortunate that my rotary line is at the edge of the path down the side of the house, so it acts like a wind tunnel, still probably won't dry, but it will smell better for having been outside for a while.
Been shopping & spent £4.97, hopefully that will be it for the week.
We also won the Euromillions £11.90 so that paid for the shopping, lol.
Bye for now.
Hugs Hester

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all your consolences. I've not been posting because I've been a bit down and OSiness has been out the window.
Today though we are helping DD move all her stuff out of the flat she owns with exboyf. She's going travelling so it is all coming to our house, goodness knows what we are going to do with it all.
Also need to have a tidy round, the house seems to have gathered a few hotspots and the washing and ironing needs doing of course.
MIL's funeral is Thursday so we will be going up to the Wirral for that. I have had so much time off work this year because of parent's illnesses (and at short notice too) that I feel very guilty, even though it has all come out of my holiday allowance. I'm trying to persuade DH that I should give up work so that I can be available but he isn't keen because he thinks my bros will take advantage (as soon as I go up to stay they all stop helping). What do others think?
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Afternoon all
Well I am mighty jealous of all these smilies coz I can't seem to get them to work. When I put them in a message I just get a box saying the emotion not the picture!
Anyway hope you are all having a good day so far. OH off work so came shopping with me this a.m. - perhaps not the best idea in the world as he does tend to get carried away and I never get to look properly for YS items and specials. I have been in Asda but never saw the butter deal!
Happy Birthday Pitlanepiglet:bdaycake:
Diva - continued good wishes and prayers for Tris
Studentgirl, Bargainbird and all others with poorlies - hope they improve quickly.
Thrifty - its an uphill battle this weight loss business - I am having a very hungry day today so am struggling. I have a pan of carrot and coriander soup on the go at the moment in the hope that it will take the edge of the hunger:rolleyes:
Taplady - glad the news wasn't any worse for your friend. Prayers for the op for her.
Smokey - those chicks did make me and OH laugh!
Cranky hope the elf and chum have a lovely afternoon. Enjoy the batch cooking it is always so satisfying to see it all done
NPM - I learnt the hard way about losing big posts and after advice (MSD) now copy everything before trying to preview or submit and then just paste if it gets lost.
Rest of today is going to be cooking, cleaning and ironing and then we can relax in front of the tv tonight. It is our wedding anniversay tomorrow so want to be able to relax and enjoy ourselves. Might even pop to the pub for a while tomorrow- who knows! lol :rotfl:
Enjoy the rest of the day
x"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"
Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D
Weight loss since January 2011 - 5st 5 lbs!!!!!0 -
I haven't caught up with the thread but just wanted to let you all know that Tris has come through the third lot of surgery in 3 days and while he hasn't woken up yet, he is still with us so that is a good sign.
Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts. Sorry I haven't read the thread but I will do so later and for now just send hugs and love to anyone who needs it today.

Edit: Just read the post above mine.... nic1lou2 - Just highlight the smilie, right click on it and then click 'copy'. Then put the cursor in your message where you want it and click 'paste'. xxTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. :hello: Good afternoon!
Diva - Glad to hear the news of Tris x
taplady - It sounds as if Janet's news was the best possible in the circs, so that's good. Best wishes to her for the op.
jackieO -Glad to hear DGS has made it through to the 2nd interview stage! I like the idea of a piece of cake in exchange for the Standard
Since it's been free, none of the local papershops get it anymore, and we miss it! I think the owner has shot himself in the foot - no point getting more advertising revenue initially, if the circulation drops so drastically that far fewer folk see the advertising
nic1lou2 - I hope your arms are a bit less sore today! I had my seasonal flu jab a month ago and the site still itches from time to time and is still a bit tender. I didn't notice it last year - but then, I did have the pneumonia vaccine in the other arm the next day and that was sore! Worth it though.
Pitlanepiglet - Happy Birthday! _party_
Studentgirl - Hope your poor DD feels better asap.
Penny_Pincher - Missing you on here! Hope you feel better soon. x
Smoky - I love the chicks :rotfl:
Cranky - Hope the cooking all goes according to plan x
Aaagh,I can't remember what everyone said, sorry, but ((((HUGS)))) to all who need some, and Congratulations to the person whose anniversary it is
Managed to do some pulling up of Michaelmas daisies in the front garden, hooray, been ages since i could do weeding :j Still got more to do, but wil leave the rest for the next dry day. Pruned a rose bush too.
Dinner was going to be Jamie's chicken tikka masala from Ministry of Food (looking forward to trying out my new pestle and mortar
) but not sure now, as it looks as if DS will be here and he was at a "curry night" in aid of Children in need last night. Still, he could always have beans on toast
or we may have bacon chops today and the curry tomorrow.
Sorry not much OS today
Have washed a load of tea towels, if that counts! (I don't think it does, really.) 0 -
Hi everyone. Busy day in the Soba household. I made banana muscovado muffins for breakfast then the usual round of clothes washed and on the clothes maid, dishes, ironing etc, rest of the family have been out delivering leaflets so I had a peaceful lunch - crispy bacon and fried egg on fried bread. I've just minced some lamb so need to decide on either sheesh kebabs or keema matar or curried lamb puffs for tea (bit of a spicy theme going on there) I've got some sticky toffee pudding leftover from last night, so that's afters sorted. It's not been the healthiest eating of days, but it's ok once in a while! We'll have the woodburner on later so that'll sort the washing as well as keeping us cosy while X Factor's on.0

Ooh, curried lamb puffs sound lovely! Nice to see you on the Daily again soba!0

Helloooo

Very late on today as the children have been hopping on & off the computer all day to 'quickly check facebook' I also went out this morning with my SIL to see a nursing home for MIL. It was really lovely and we think the MIL will be happy there. She needs to be assessed by the senior nursing staff at the home this week (They'll go to the hospital to do it) and then it should all work out. She has no assets or savings so should get funding for the place. As long as she's got a bit of money in her purse each week she'll be okay as we all get whatever she needs anyway. If it were my parents they'd have to sell their house to fund the care I think. It seems a very strange system
My Mum has been down for a few hours this afternoon which was lovely. I've sent her home with 4 portions of celery & potato soup that I made while she was here (for our dinner tonight with hm flatbread), a portion of chilli for Dad from the freezer and a plant that needs intensive care :rotfl: Mum has been suffering from recurring pancreatitis & so can only eat a limited diet until its settled enough for the docs to remove her gall bladder so I freeze bits for Dad when I have a portion leftover. Poor Mum has lost 1 and a half stone since August and she was only 9 & a half to start with ......
All the usual washing, swishing & swiping and hoovering has taken place. I'll do some ironing tomorrow. I hope that everyone is having a good day and enjoying the weekend.
Diva Good news re Tris xx Thanks for the reminder re the smileys I searched for the thread to do a link for whoever was asking for it but then forgot which day it was so I could read what you'd put. Unfortunately, like NicLou, I'm still having probs as it doesn't highlight when I click on it!
Souba Banana & Muscavado muffins sound yummy - any recipe that you could share? Thanks in advance :A
Cranky Good on you for the batch cooking & hope that George & his friend have had a good time.
Piglet Happy Birthday :j0 -
Hope the weather is bettter for you all than it is in the area around Ivy Towers. Nasty here, but it gave me the chance to road test my dome shaped clear plastic umbrella. No nasty potential embarrassment with hair (wig) coming off with hood in the wind! I'm really pleased I thought of this. Also doesn't flip inside out like my other brolly.
Dh dropped me in town for half an hour while he went to the opticians. I had to go to"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Well the weather has turned frightful here now! it's blowing a gale and pouring, proper winter weather. It's just getting dark now but earlier this afternoon there were rainbows

I popped to Aldi to get some of the fruit n veg on offer, wanted peppers to make stuffed peppers. I came over all Christmassy and got a mini xmas pud, some cream and their own Baileys like drink
so that's my Saturday night sorted!
My flat is now spotless. I changed bedding and have given in and put on the winter duvet now. My parents came over for an hour earlier, brought my post in which I had a £35 redemtion check for my mobile phone contract
, free Nails Inc polish with a magazine and Tesco clubcard vouchers. I also sorted out a hotel for my 21hour stopover in Dubai on my way back from New Zealand in January, all arrange for free.
So a good day for me
