    Good morning,

It will be a busy day here at Faulty Towers. I am taking Grumpy the house elf to Toys R Us this morning with 1/3 of his birthday money as it's burning a hole in his pocket so to speak. The other 2/3 will be going in his bank account, and as he is only 5 and didn't count the money coming in, he will be none the wiser. Hopefully he will thank me when he's older. We're on good terms this morning as he didn't wake up until 6:15 today :T

The man from MOD pensions came yesterday. Apparently the house elf gets a pension as well as them paying one to me. Neither pension will be huge as DH had only worked for the MOD for 9 years, but every little helps. I could have had the childs pension paid to me, but I've asked for it to go to Grumpy's account. When I left school, my mum and dad had even spent the endowment insurance payout that was supposed to be for me, so I try to save what I can for the little person.

I am on a mission today. I have invited the elf's friend for lunch. They can play together this afternoon as I will be batch cooking. I want to put 4 portions of bolognese, 4 portions of chilli, 4 portions of chicken curry and 4 portions of sweet and sour chicken in the freezer. Home made ready meals, yay! I may even let the little people make some shortbread if I get the other things done.

    Take care all of you
  • :j Ooh I won on Euromillions last night! Only £5.80 but it's better than nowt!!:j

The £90million would have been nice though

I only do it when it's a BIG jackpot.

    Morning All

I feel quite chipper this morning - kids were late risers (for them anyway) and came downstairs quietly to watch TV so I didn't get out of bed until 7:40 which hasn't happened for a long long time! and after heavy showers early on this morning its lovely and bright outside now.

I've a batch of dough rising to make pizza bases and i'm going to make some pizza sauce in a minute - then DS1 to work and me to lidl then I intend to do very little until I have to pick DS1 up again at 7pm! I've just taken meat out of the freezer so the batch cooking i need to do can be done tomorrow.

DH didn't go to sleep until after 6am this morning as he has a sore chest and cough - I think exhaustion took over eventually so he is sleeping on the sofa...which means the kids who are watching TV in the living room are behaving like angels so as not to wake him - silver linings and all that!

I was begining to think I might have blown my first grocery challenge budget (have spent £200 of a £550 in a week:rotfl:) but having just done my shopping list and meal plan for this week I only need to spend around £40 so maybe its not so bad afterall!

    Right! time for another coffee

Hope everyone has the day the want/need!

Morning, all. Hope everyone has a nice and OSfull day.

I'm off to Mr A in a minute to try and find some bargains, and because I don't get to go all that often it's nice to be able to look around somewhere new. Here's hoping I don't buy too much though ;) I bought some venison burgers off the market on a whim yesterday, as DH hasn't tried them and it is a little treat for doing so well at OSiness this month. I need to get some soft rolls (I can't make bread for toffee :( ) and some salad to go in them, and that'll be lovely tonight with a thin slice of cheese melting all over the top - mmmm.

Plus, I need to get some more rum to make a couple of light fruit cakes to be given as Christmas cakes to family. I know they'll go down well as presents, and they'll be quite cheap in comparison. Christmas is going to be scaled down a lot this year, as I'm sure it is for most people. I don't mind though, as hopefully it'll mean more.

Going to have a look at getting some thermals today too. I saw some in a shop in town on a BOGOF last week, so I'm hoping to get the top and leggings for quite a bit less than usual. I also want to buy a cheap fleece so I can line the inside of my necktube with it for those rare occasions we'll go out on the bike in winter. That reminds me, I've still not picked up my coat from having the lining replaced.

My to do list gets longer and longer.

Here's for a lovely and quiet day, restful and happy. Take care, everyone, and (((hugs))) to those in need.

    Kitchenbunny xx

One for the X-factor fans today! me included.

It's gorgeous out there today allthough mighty cold. I spent my 6 child free hours yesteday spring cleaning the kids rooms and cleaning the nets and the windows everywhere bar the kitchen (as you do when you have 'me time' lol ) so today I will clean he kitchen windows and nets, wash down the units and tackle mount Everest (I kid you not :eek: - where does it all come from?) and some sewing.

Asda have developed the photos on to disc so I will be able to pick those up when my glasses are ready. :T:T:T
Lunch will be mince and mash today and I have some chicken to use up for tea so I think maybe a rice concoction with plenty of veggies followed by apple pie, ice-cream and double cream.... yummy!!!

The kids are all fairly quiet so far today, 1 on the laptop, 2 on the gamecube and 3 making heart shaped cards, they also have another star wars film to watch later on ITV.

Betheebee - belated happy birthday hun, hope you had a good day.xxx
Snoozer - my condolonces to you. xxx
Pen-pin - hope you are OK. xxx

    morning all!

Diva - thanks for asking about Janet - she did get the results she wanted, the cancer hasn't spread so no chemo just the surgery(its a huge op though) all her friends are so glad as its nearly a year since our Lesley was diagnosed with it and we couldn't bear the thought of another dear friend going the same way. I do hope Tris continues to fight .

Studentgirl - hope your DS soon feels better, its horrible having to leave them when they're poorly.

    Happy Birthday Pitlanepiglet birthday.gif

    PP - hug.gif hope you're ok x

weekend off for me:j had a nice lie in and a read of my book in bed with a cuppa(DH at work at 3am) DS2 still in his pit so nice and quiet here. I've had a tidy round, 2 loads of washing and changed the bed.
Am going to make soup later, got a recipe for Watecress and celeriac soup from a fellow SW member to try.
Tonight we're lighting the fire and a night in with SCD and X factor.

Hope you all have a great weekend x

  • :wave:Good morning everyone,

It's a lovely sunny Autumn day here today. I might hang out the washing but I'm not sure it'll be warm enough to dry.

Feeling a bit fed up- stepped on the scales last night to find I am 3lb heavier than last time I weighed myself :( Eating too darned much. I've been thinking about various diet plans but they all seem to involve spending money so have come to the conclusion (again:rolleyes:) that I need to cut out snacks and seconds and lay off the booze a bit. Am doing fairly well with the last one actually and just saving it for the weekends.

Breakfast for everyone was wholemeal toast, two of the kids had granola as well. I must make some more today.

Lunch will be leek and potato soup as I've been getting requests for it for a while.

Supper will be a pork casserole- possibly sweet and sour style with rice. I think I'll give pudding a miss and offer yogurt or fruit.

OH says he's going to reseal the bath today. The whole bathroom needs redoing actually. The tiles are beginning to crack. We're compiling quite a list of things that need doing around the house including a roof repair.
  • Good Morning Chums,
beautiful sunny day here at the moment so I'm going to stick the washing on the line for a good blow.I love the smell of washing when it comes in from the line. NSD again today as I have more than enough stuff in the fridge and cupboards. Will do some baking this morning. I think a nice Victoria sponge cake and maybe some of Twinks hob nobs as my cake and biscuit boxes seem rather bare.
But I have had eldest DGS popping in every evening on his way home from work.He gives me a free Evening Standard from london, and I give him some cake ,fair exchange I think.
Sausages for lunch today perhaps with a jacket spud, tonight I have got a chicken breast out of the freezer so am going to wrap it in some streaky bacon that must be used up today and stick it in the Remoska with some halved new potato for dinner tonight.
I am deep into a book about the Peterloo Massacre, which I have to write an essay on shortly and so I must get started on that soon.I should really get myself down to the Uni library and get some more books out but its such a difficult place to park, and even with my blue badge there are few available spots. well time to get a wriggle on ,have a great week-end everyone
    Cheers JackieO x
  • Morning all, thank you for the birthday wishes. I can't believe I'm 40 - it's funny how all my friends look old but I obviously only look like the 18 year old I once was :rotfl:

DS was really poorly last night, couldn't breathe because of blocked nose, and kept cough cough coughing. He's back in bed now though ;)

Tea tonight will either be fry-up or tuna pasta, need to go to library and get meat for tomorrow, we are skinto skinto so thats not helping

Put the heating on y'day as M/FIL were coming for Tea, wouldn't be very kind to offer them a jumper :rotfl:. It's off again now though ;)
