    Sounds yummy!
Are you buying the camembert ready-breaded or making it yourself? Personally I would do a baked-in-the-box camembert with crusty bread for dunking.

If you don't like salmon, why don't you do another fish wrapped in parma ham? Monkfish or cod loin are both equally nice, if you like white fish.

Can't help with the cheesecake I'm afraid, my dinner party staple puds are baked alaska or summer pudding. There's a lovely mocha mousse in the new Gordon Ramsay book that I want to try though - may increase my repertoire to 3!
  • sounds lovely. I have an easy receipe for a pear & amaretti cheesecake if you'd like it - there is no cooking or gelatine involved.
Never cooked the cheese in breadcrumbs (Although love eating it), if you want really easy cheese starter to go with cranberry = cook slices of houlmi cheese (which I can't spell)
  • im a fussy veggie, and wont make my guests suffer!! LOL

I was going to get the camembert already to go - but bake in teh box sounds fab! and cheaper im sure!

i always end up making lemon curd brulee, but thought if i could make a cheesecake i wouldnt end up getting stressed about all 3 courses!!
  • Ooooh i have halloumi in the freezer..... thats an excellent idea!

Technically you should have cocktails before dinner (if dinner is a !!!! up no one notices:rotfl:) & brandy or port after (to wash away any lingering cocked up aftertastes:rotfl:), but whatever takes your fancy;)
Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!
  • I'd be very happy to go to a friends house and eat that. Most of my friends would order a pizza!!!

    I love cheesecake.......

Mmmmm, grilled halloumi, haven't had it for ages. If you forget to get it our of the freezer (sorry, judging you by my own standards here ;)) and go for the baked in a box camembert, one will feed 2-3 people, so you'll need 2 or 3 depending on how hungry (greedy?) your guests are. You could do veggie crudites (carrot, cucumber, pepper etc) as well as bread to dunk.

If you type cheesecake into the BBC food recipe search there are 108 recipes - quite a lot from ready steady cook, so they must be fairly quick & simple.
  • Thanks all. i feel much better about it now. my OH is next to no help at all! if i said i was dishing out pot noodles he wouldnt care!! LOL

fingers crossed for a stress free dinner party!!

Can I come, seeing as I donated the salmon/pesto/Parma ham recipe? Please?
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
  • ah ha! so it was your fault wigginsmum! my OH has not stopped going on about it since I made it the first time around! he has been nagging me to make it ever since, and my previous guests/victims emailed and asked for the recipe!! thank you for that one, everyone loved it and it was SO simple and looked so impressive!
