    Hi guys

Hope you dont mind me looking for a bit of guidance. Rang up Leeds BS today to ask for their bank details so i could set up my overpayment for end of month. The guy on the other end said he 'thinks' my bank will charge me 25 or 30 quid for this electronic payment each time i made it and i would be better sending a cheque or paying by debit card. I told him i pay other bills & credit cards this way and dont get charged. Is this the case for mortgage payments?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.:A

What bank is it your sending the payment from? I very much doubt it'll be a problem if your doing a standard bank transfer. He may have been getting confused with CHAPs payments possible which do have a fee for a speedier transfer.

Hi,my bank is Abbey (Santander). I have never heard of paying a fee for this service. I am going to set it up anyway as a payment as i managed to get their bank sort code and account number out of him. He also gave me my balance 70,038:( but unfortunately i will have to keep ringing for a balance as they do not have facility for online balances (unless you change specifically to an online mortgage and that also incurs a fee:mad:). All being well i shall make this payment on Thursday 27th when DH gets paid.

    Thanks for the response

Fifth overpayment of 2010 made on the 15th May (well the 17th actually as today is a Saturday!) Numbers are

    2010 Overpayment target: £2760
    March overpayment : £250
    Overpayments to date: £1250

My overall mortgage status is now:

    Mortgage at 15/05/2010
    Outstanding balance: £52,853
Estimated endowment value: £24,378 (revalued @15/04/2010, but it could be somewhat less since; see my diary!)
Investments: £13,345 (up since beginning of year:), down a lot in the last monthicon9.gif)
    Deficit: -£15,131

My overpayments since Jan 09 will also save me an estimated £830 before my target MF date of September 2014.

My overpayment reserve now equates to over 12 months regular mortgage payments :T.

Hope everyone else is on target. Going to spend the next hour or so catching up with everyone's successes.

OP'd another £50 and £100 at the beginning of the month, so with my normal OP of £100, that makes £250 this month and 2 months shaved :D

Total OP'd this month then is £250 :j
    MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

    Hello,

I'm excited about the move to being able to be a serious MFW (had to finish my DFW journey before it made sense to OP).

I'd like to set my OP target as £1800, which is £150 per month from June onwards. I have made my first OP to start us off at £760 this month. We are with Santander so I will have to save my monthly OPs and make them as chunks every few months.
Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.

At last got the bank sorted out so have made OP of £1000.:A

    MFW 91 op 2014 £410/1000
    MFW 91 op 2015 £4051/4000
    MFW 91 op 2016 £4040/4000
    MFW 91 op 2017 £812/4500
  • No 82 here.. I need a boost guys. I know I shouldn't compare my OP's with everyone else but I'm finding it hard to get excited about my monthly £40 OP's. My savings are pretty low so I've been plowing money into my ISA religiously, which only leaves me with a small amount left for an OP. I've been playing with the OP calculators to try to get my OP'ing mojo back but I think it's gone forever.

Any words of wisdom to keep me on track?

    CK xx
