  • No. 25 popping by as I've not posted for ages! I've been having 'fun' with the Halifax regarding my 10% limit and whether I can or can't overpay...I am still waiting for the letter of confirmation. So in the mean time I have reduced the term to 15 yrs from 23yrs to increase my monthly payment and am not making any overpayments. Fingers crossed this will be resolved soon!

Well done on everyone elses progress!

good luck dansmum welcome to the thread hun, glad you managed to get another job. Its always better to look for another job while in a job isnt it?

You'll not look back now you have started on your MF journey. Why not start a mortgage diary on here like most of us and you will be amazed when you look back over the months how things change so quickly.

  • After a horrid January where everything came at once (car tax, MOT, service, car insurance, tax bill, christmas bills, buildings insurance and contents insurance - that's planning for you!) February was our best month ever for overpaying. We managed to overpay £12,200 this month and have changed our year target to £20,000. We also managed to get below £60,000 finally, another first. Now I am looking forward to going below £50,000 for the first time in the not too distant future helped by a reduction in the amount we have to pay each month by almost £80 for what we have managed to overpay this month. Any and all savings like this are currently getting plowed into this mortgage however small or large they be!
So far: Council Tax downgrade success and £1,000 refund | Mortgage redemption refund £25.00 | Lightspeed £65.00 | Pigsback £30.00 | Quidco £130.00 | Topcashback £405.00 all courtesy MSE
MFW #95 Mortgage at Jan 2010 £66,000 OP Target for 2010 £23,850 OP so far £23,200.00 Balance now £39,918

    No 131 checking in.

sorry I forgot to post for February but still made a basic OP of £450. I would have liked to pay more but was still paying for Christmas (basic MS error I know!) and also have been over and back to London visiting DH which is eating into my disposable income - though I guess he's worth it. Similar story now for March, again the £450 OP but alas nothing more.

Anyway it's a grand total of £1525/£7500 OP so far. I did look into my bank accounts today and the mortgage is now down to £194,200 which is pretty good. Still thinking under £180k might be possible by end of year although it does depend a bit on how DH's work goes and on whether interest rates go up again.

Good to see you're all hard at it!
