No 15 reporting in - Made another february overpayemnt of £150 giving a total of £450 for the month of February. We will see what happens over the next few weeks as unsure if I should continue to overpay or just save as we have our house on the market and hope to move in the near future.

  • I'd like to join if I may. We're currently on an interest only mortgage  as I'm on maternity leave, (although we have been on it for around 2yrs since I had my first DS) but have been making teeny payments...
The plan is that I'm going back to work in October when we will switch back to repayment, and we will also probably move repayment term to 25yrs (from 18) so that we are paying a more manageable amount. We're then going to throw anything we can at it.
At the moment the only overpayments we do are when I skim money off the current accounts to round it down to the nearest fiver. I'm hoping that when we move onto repayment we will be able to overpay at least a couple of hundred pounds each month and then when DS1 gets preschool funding we can use that money too.
Oh, and our mortgage currently stands at an eye watering £174,098.42

  • Total February overpayment for me is £240, hoped it would be slightly more but unexpected bills just keep popping up .

    Hi Cake
You are doing a great job on keeping everything regularly updated. Well done, I know I could never be quite so organised!!!

I just noticed that my year to date figures are out by exactly a £1000 - easily done, I wondered if you could update them when you have chance.

Also, just checked January roll of honour, not sure if you want to include my savings as you have done on the first post or not as this is only showing the amount paid off the mortgage. I promise my savings will go towards my mortgage barring a major catastrophe!!

Well I'm glad the image of organisation is effective :rotfl:Thanks for highlighting those errors (neither deliberate ;)).

Good reminder - If anyone else has a savings pot that's just waiting for a change in mortgage rate / ERCs / other to make it worthwhile, please do feel free to include it in your MFW 2010 target as that's the ultimate aim :D
