You're going to very busy with this challenge and the interest in just a few days is a good indicator of how important it is for a lot of us to be rid of our mortgages sooner.

Welcome (both of you)

That's how I felt about your challenge:rotfl:

Not really, can you graph it for us :rotfl:
You ask. You get.
OK. My mortgage should finish in 2029 - the payment last time I checked to meet this obligation is £427.55 per month (minimum payment).
By asking Nationwide to shorten the term, I've now committed to a mandatory overpayment £470.78 (top up OP) which makes my normal monthly payment of £898.03
On top of that, I make further optional overpayments of varying amounts (optional OP) as and when we can. Graphically, it looks like this:
So bringing back to the overpayment challenge, we're really looking at the red bar as that's the overpayments I'm making.

... and you gave me a spreadsheet as well as the graphs. I just don't do visual:rotfl:0

Ah, now I see - simplesA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hi, I joined the 2009 MFW board in September so would love to carry on next year here!
I will have overpayed £13,100 by the end of 2009. Won't be able to make quite that much next year but so far it's already knocked quite a bit off my mortgage term and overall balance:T
I am No 312 in 2009 if that makes any difference.
So as long as interest rates stay at 0.5% next year we will continue to make £200 a month op's on the Natiowide 2.5% rate and I reckon if I can get the holiday to Dubai paid off (sorry couldn't resist I'm so excited :j) then I can top that up a bit more so will set my target at ......£3,500 and hope for the best.
Thanks Guys!0 -
Financialbliss - wow! :T
Thriftyknickers and jacqhale - welcome  (even if jacqhale is making me jealous with holidays to Dubai!)
