Sorry not been around on the boards lately. Still half heartidly continuing my MFW quest, though my ny resolution is too go at it full force.

Saying this in a convoluted way i did meet & exceed my target of £5k. £4600 in a ISA & £600 in regular savers. Although the £600 in my head is towards next yrs ISA, so next yr OP iyswim :huh:

    Anyway total OP of £5200

Right; I'm just starting this journey. I bought my house a year ago - December 2009 - for £230,000. I put down a £57,500 deposit, but £995 fee was added to the account.

It's a 25 year mortgage, and yesterday I looked at my savings account and thought "I can stick some of that into the mortgage".

I overpaid £5k yesterday. I'm just about to ring to ask to overpay my monthly payments by £120.

I have no idea how much is outstanding on the mortgage since it would have started at £173,495; I've paid for 12 months plus the £5k - prob something like £166k? I'll ask when I ring them.
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?

Balance is £164,214.83. Quite pleased with that. Just increased my repayments to a regular £960 pm.

  • Number 20 reporting in with the final figures for 2010.

    December overpayment = £370.88 :)

    Making total for 2010 £5237.43 :D
Not as much over £5k as I'd have hoped for at the beginning of the year but am very pleased we got there in the end!

Have joined the Make £11K in 2011 challenge to keep me as focused as can be on making some extra cash and hopefully find new ideas which can be used to help the MFW quest.

Thanks again to Cake for looking after this challenge and for next year too!

Well done to everyone :T and good luck with your 2011 challenges.

Happy New Year to you all!! _party_
