I'm sorry but i can't really think of a nice way to put this. Livelyred you appear to have fundemental problems with understanding ebay and paypal and having had a real problem a couple of months back with an item paid for by cheque I really would suggest that you stop using ebay to buy or sell until you actually understand what you are doing.

OK on this occasion your lack of understanding of both how banks work and of morals has still turned out OK which is more than lucky for you.

I know people will think I am being harsh here but look at some of the previous posts to see why I am so concerned that the OP needs to understand it all a bit more to avoid some real issues in the future.

I didnt pay pay through my bank account as i dont have it set up with paypal as a direct debit also i dont have credit cards and i dont have a cheque book, the cheque came from my bank. I am a honest person thankyou and i have contacted paypal about last nite so i wont be getting the refund into my paypal account just to let you all know Thanks

I didn't say credit card I said debit card even the most basic accounts have a debit card that can be used to fund paypal (even a visa electron)

As Soolin you seem to have fundamental problems in the basic understanding of ebay and paypal. I just had a look through your previous threads and you seem to have more issues in the past 6 months with ebay ?paypal than I have had in 10 years looking closely at these most of them are caused by your lack of basic understanding and common sense. If you continue to use ebay I recommend you have a good look at the terms and conditions and get a good understanding of the way the systems work. Otherwise what will happen is you will end up losing a lot of money in some transaction

Paypal protection is offered on paypal purchases.

Never heard of paypal protection used for items bought with cheques.

I got ripped off a few years ago by buying an item I never recieved with a cheque, did ebay refund me, no they did absolutely jacks#!t.

There has been instances recently under the new protection scheme where people have had goodwill refunds from ebay . However I can only assume that ebay don't just then leave the seller alone but mark them as a problem or even chase them for the money .

However if people misuse the system and openly brag about it on forums like this I doubt whether these goodwill payments will happen very often at all in the future.

As a seller I also think one of the previous posers made a very good point. This basically means that sellers who still accept payment by cheque or postal orders are likely to be leaving themselves open to buyer abuse. If it is as simple as complaining to ebay that you have sent a cheque or PO and seller refuses to send your goods, and ebay refund them and penalise the seller in some ways we are all doomed. I assume, and I might be wrong as my thoughts do make a lot of assumptions, that a seller who only takes paypal and states that clearly in the listing will be safer as if a buyer claims they sent a cheque the seller has the ultimate response that they must be mistaken as they do not accept them.
