I had a buyer claim an item was lost so I refunded. RM sent her a form to sign to confirm the item hadn't arrived. She didn't even though they sent it twice so RM assumed it had arrived and didn't refund me :(

If she opens an INR in paypal she will win and get refunded and rightly so. You agreed to get the items to her which she paid for you have failed (even if it is RMs fault) therefore she should be refunded.

You are being quite unreasonable to your buyer and if I was her I would be kicking up a lot more of a fuss

This is exactly my worry! And being as it has happened quite a bit on the said forum, that is why I am not issuing a refund!

Assuming this is still within the 45 day time frame for paypal it would surely be best to issue a refund willingly, through gritted teeth if necessary, rather than antagonise the buyer who might then refuse to assist with your refund

Only a sample of people are asked to confirm that claims are genuine, I'm sorry but by refusing to refund a buyer who has not got their item it does put you in a bad light.

I think this also shows how very wise MSE is to ban private sales of any sort on its forum, as a buyer you are far too open to problems.

The same thing has happened to me.

Which is why I now tend to send stuff recorded.

Proof of postage ain't worth the hassle especially when buyers don't bother admiting the item was missing.

Does any of your recorded stuff actually track to delivery?

Recorded mail doesn't track to delivery, only shows that it's been signed for and delivered. Doesn't go through the same process as Special Deliveries do, so no tracking as such. All it should show is the date that it was delivered, ,then if requested the signature could be seen.

  • Think its a little cheeky of the buyer to send a paypal money request though lol, if someone did that to me I'd be convinced they were trying it on.
Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive :D
  • Thats whats making me wonder! And the same thing happened to another member from the same person for an item which was worth over £150.. Item was apparently 'Lost' in the post and because it wasnt sent with insurance, the seller was out of pocket by over £100 as they only paid her compensation of £36... I aint refunding the money to her yet, I am going to wait until its sorted. If this isnt enough to put you off selling priavetly, I dont know what is!
So much for 'Money Saving' ;)

OK, I'll rephrase it as my previous post was misleading. Does your recorded actually show delivery? I ask because the last time I sent a batch before the strikes my success rate for showing as delivered was only 33%.

Obviously I don't bother with recorded for ebay, my recorded items are all work related which is how i know they are delivered, but the track and trace suggests otherwise.
