Items lost in post - Paypal..

Hiya Guys,
I hope someone can help me out!
I sold some crafting items (£20 worth) on a craft forum, and the buyer paid for them via Paypal. I posted them on October 1st and have proof of postage. The items still havent arrived at the buyers house. I have told the person that I will be filing a lost items claim with Royal Mail, and she has requested I send her the £20 back via Paypal (As in, sent me a invoice on Paypal for the £20). I am reluctant to refund her until my claim has gone through as I feel it is unfair on me as I will be out of pocket through no fault of my own (I know she is to, but I offered her other ways of sending ie recorded/first class etc). Am I being unreasonable for asking her to wait until my claim is processed? What will happen if she files a non received item through Paypal?
Sorry for so many questions, I havent had any problems like this before!
And sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section..
Thanks in advance
xx

I think it is unreasonable. Its not her fault either! The issue is between you and RM and really has nothing to do with her.0

No, it may not be her fault either, but I gave her the option to send it signed for or recorded, which she chose the cheapest option. If the items turn up once the backlog of mail is sorted, and I refund her money, she will not only have her money back but my items to! And from my understanding, when making a claim she will have to sign something to say she hasnt recieved the items, so what is stopping her from not signing this form when I refund her the money? So much for 'Money Saving'

What form??
I am with EmmEve here, this claim is between you and RM. You should refund her and then get your money back through RM. Though im not sure how paypal disputes work when it isnt bought from ebay, i thought buyer only had protection if it was ebay bought? But i could be wrongLaugh Often, Love Much, Live Well.0 -
The Royal Mail claim form, that she will have to sign to say that she hasnt recieved the items..So much for 'Money Saving'

Its been nearly 5 wks. I think she has been very patient waiting this long. Some people would have asked for a refund much sooner. I think its a bit of a cop out to try and blame the buyer for choosing first class delivery and not recorded.
Not sure about the whole paypal thing if you haven't bought through ebay either though tbh. But IF paypal have any authority over it i am pretty sure they will want you to refund her now, not when you have claimed from RM0 -
You are better of just refunding her so she will so-operate with you when you make a claim from RM. If she opens a paypal dispute they will grant it in her favour anyway.
Always, Always send items by recorded / signed for delivery. I do and find things never get lost in the post
Do not give the option of a non recorded or signed for postal service. Member of Thrifty Gifty ~ Making money for Christmas 2010:£2 Savers club member no 40 ~ £54Amazon Vouchers BingoPort ~ £10Dooyoo Challenge Jan ~ £24.07 / £20.00 Yippee over target :j0 -

I am sorry but I am not copping out and blaming the buyer AT ALL, I am blaming Royal Mail. No where in ANY of my messages have I blamed the buyer, I just stated that I gave her the option to send a different method. I have decided not to refund her now, and emailed Paypal myself to resolve the situation. Thanks all for your comments :rolleyes:So much for 'Money Saving'

Thanks for that bit of advice!
