Orange 3p texts

Hi, on the Orange website there is an offer of 6 months unlimited texts at 3p on the PAYG. It says to qualify for this off you need to join Orange and either buy a phone for over £69 or a SIM card for £4.99. I am an Orange customer and I bought a SIM from their site. If you read the terms and conditions it says you must buy a phone for over £69 - no mention of just buying a SIM. However, I phoned up to register and the guy I spoke to told me to phone customer services so I did that and I asked if she was sure I didn't have to buy a phone or be a new Orange customer to qualify for this and was told no it would be fine. She registered my new SIM and cancelled my old one and said the new 3p texts would start within 24hours and if they didn't start within 48hours I was to phone up again. Anyway, the 24 hours have gone but not quite 48 yet and no update apart from the one allowing me to use my new SIM (but at 12p per text).
I had suspicions about this to begin with and now I'm beginning to think I was right, has anyone been successful in getting this deal just by buying the SIM at £4.99?

What I don't understand is why Orange have cancelled your Orange sim? I have several Orange sims all registered in my name.0

Hi edinburghlass, it's because I kept the same phone number, I could re-register ma old one but they would give me a new number for it. They said I couldn't have the same phone number for two different SIMs.
I don't have much hope of this working for me as I've still no had an update message.0 -
I phoned Orange again this morning and for some reason it hadn't been activated. It has been done now and not only is it working now (texts for 3p) but I'm still also getting the the first 5 texts every day free until my textsaver runs out, guid gaun.0

Does this mean you will need to change your user name to something else
Glad you got it fixed though and Orange ain't all that bad, all of the time!0 -
Aye, I might have to do that but one of my neighbours once had a wee dog called lucky who got run over by a bin lorry so maybe I'll just leave it for now. :-/0

Both me and other half are shortly to go onto orange PAYG from orange contract, will this apply to us 2?
???I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0 -
What I was told by orange customer services was that if you buy the SIM card from the website at £4.99 - which includes delivery, you register it with them (and even keep your own number if you like) before Jan 31st then you will get all your texts at 3p for 6 months. You must either (a) buy the SIM OR (b) buy a phone for over £69 and it must be from the website not a shop. You have to give them a number off the back of the pack when you phone up and it confirms it's been bought from the website. You are best to mention the 3p offer when you phone up or they may not give you it as some of the people working for orange aren't even aware of it.0
