Callaloo soup was nice. We also had Spanish omelette that night. Tonights Argentinian meatballs were another delicious recipe that will feature repeatedly in our menus from now on. I used the fair trade recipe but only used half the meatball mixture for our tea. The other half I added some red and yellow pepper and mushrooms and made a meatloaf for another day.

I am seriously enjoying all this cooking at the moment :j

Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed your thread! Did have some vague idea that I might join in, but events have got ahead of me.:D

We have had Italian, Mexican and French over the last week but I don't think any coincided with those teams playing:rotfl:

Anyway, keep it up and well done!:T :T

Should add that I adore football and have watched as many matches as possible!!
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
  • Hi, we have been on holiday for the last couple of weeks. have had lots of french and spanish food, but not much else!

Are you still world cup cooking troll35?
"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."

    Yes we're still at it:)
Today we're having pasta carbonara. It's been a bit harder since the group stages as I've had to have a few alternatives planned especially as we only shop once a week. Tomorrow I'll make Caldo Verde again as I've a glut of spinach/greens.

Hope the mexican meal was tasty. Tonight Chez Ambulance, we had Jambalaya, from Ecuador

    http://www.fairtradecookbook.org.uk/recipes/jambalaya.htm

and highly tasty it was too.
erm.......hate to tell you & fair trade this but Jambalaya comes from the carribben, guniea pig is very popular in Ecuador though! (Trust me, I've spent a fair amount of time in & cooking in both & only ever seen jambalaya in carribean & new orleans!)

I guess no-one will be having either vindaloo or fish & chips on game nights anymore then:p
Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!

My mind has been focussed on the great game by the fact I live in a coastal town in the UK with a very large landmark. Now, apparently the local team have an important game at the weekend, and never one to let an occasion go uncatered, I have been toying with the idea of HM snacks for the game..

So, in keeping with the "ball" theme and bearing in mind there is some sort of "world football tournament" coming up, what are us Os'rs planning to feed the troops during matches to stave off the inevitable ring for a pizza demands, thus ruining mealplans, food budgets etc..

My first idea is cheese choux buns with a herby cream cheese filling, my own "cheesy football" :D

Get a pack of flour Tortilas, those flat bready round things.cut them in half & then into wedges, deep fry in hot oil for a minute or so until crisp & brown, drain & sprinkle with salt & pepper, paprika or what ever floats your boat.
These are great with a bowl of hot chilli too!
Or get two of them,on one, spread thickly with grated cheese, halepeno chili's,cooked bacon, onion ect, bung the other on top & fry in a dry or lightly oiled frying pan until the cheese is melted.Cut into quarters & serve.
