Sorry our computer went haywire and I've not had internet access for a few days. The cookings going great. Everything so far has gone done great with DH (not so great for DS 'cos he likes his food plain)
German Lebkuchen - kid's made before school, iced after school and ate really quickly Success!
Swedish Jannson's Temptation - absolutely divine would def. recommend.
Dutch pancakes - did my own version but DS has asked for them every day since:)
Italian pizza - well I'm sure I don't need to say anything about this.
Swiss raclette - quite nice but nothing out of the ordinary really
Spanish Ranchero (stew) - loved this too, though I did add a touch too much cayenne so it was a bit hot.
It's been brilliant so far. I've not watched any football though DS (aged 9) who's a bit of a Statto (fantasy football, if anyone remembers) spouts on incessantly with a running commentary and all sorts of wierd facts and figuresI like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -
We have had a few pasta dishes - one with meatballs to make it kind of swedish
We have also tried the Hausfrau pasty (post 4) which was great. The kids made their own with the bits in that they liked and it was all a bit of a doddle! Will be doing that again!
Last night was Callaloo Soup (Trinidad & Tobago) - which I had my doubts about but was very nice!

This would be good with a spicy accompaniment.
We are having Ranchero tonight, so will keep you posted. Thanks for such a great idea!"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0 -
Tonight we had Costa Rican black bean soup (with lots of crusty bread because I didn't fancy tortillas with soup). It was really tasty and quite fragrant due to the amount of fresh coriander I added.
Mexican tomorrow:)I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -
haven't tried the black bean soup yet, but I fancy the sound of it.
Had Ranchero last night - mmmmm! Even the children ate some which is amazing considering how they normally react to stew  Will do that one again - it will probably be good in the slow cooker.
we are having jambalaya tonight, which apparently originates in Ecuador!
Thanks again for sharing this idea. We can get into a real cooking rut so it has been great to try something new."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. and highly tasty it was too."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0 -
We had a change of plans on Saturday. We went for USA as DH really wanted a curry for dinner and we hadn't had a takeaway for yonks. We had doughnuts (not h/m) and DH had burgers for lunch and DS hotdogs.
Sunday we had our bbq, but also I made the Portuguese Caldo Verde soup which was delicious (using some of our homegrown spinach as I didn't have quite enough cabbage). Tonight we have had Spanish omelette..lovely.
Rest of this week:-
Tuesday - Callaloo soup from Trinidad and Tobago
Wednesday - Argentinian meatballs
Thursday - Italian spaghetti bolognese
Friday - eek France.....errr.... poisson et pommes frites:rotfl: :rotfl:I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -
Yup, we have loads of homegrown ones in the garden:rotfl:
I've got lots of apples so I may make a tarte tatin (?spelling) if I am able to summon up the enthusiasm after a long working week plus one of DS's friends is coming for teaI like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -
