Sorry SH! I thought the make of your router has it's CP URL at http://192.168.1.0
  • Thanks to all for the help so far my 11 yr old who has taken over here is watching the Bill and I have household chores and a sick child to tend to.Will be back in the morning
    Many thanks again.
  • Hi All
I have just got around to trying to solve this problem again. Not one to rush into things!! I have just been thru all that was posted and want to clarify what the problem is: The desk top pc is connected to NTL modem box thingy which is plugged into back of hard drive of pc we had set up wireless -G broadband router Linskys WRT54G to our new laptop all was going fine for a few weeks on the net , my son took it to his grandads house and noticed other networks were on the lists what he did I do not know but the internet connection has not worked since. It seems to be the renewing the IP address that is the problem. I am a complete dunce at this sort of thing .I re read the bit about entering the http://192.168.1.1 and have sorted the pasword bit out and got into it, so if any one is willing to help from there i will be very grateful. My attention will be intermitent as it will be school pick up time at 3.30pm and have to collect dog from groomers after that .

As the PC has been disconnected from the router and moved this page may help you to sort it out.

  • Thank you I will have a look at this.
  • I have tried turning off the router and modem and doing what it said in your link but no luck, it says it cannot finishing repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed:" Renewing your IP address".

Try re-booting the PC now, worth a go! That page also tells you how to request a new DHCP lease.
