Could someone please give me some help, i have looked at the wireless section but nothing the same as my problem that i can understand.
We have a desk top and a lap top computer which we have recently connected to Linksys wireless router model no WRT54GS We have NTL Broadband, all was going well until a few weeks ago when we were unable to connect to the internet , " this page cannot be displayed " comes up when you click on internet explorer. The status icon says connection status
Active profile Default
Auto profile selection Disabled
Connection status Associated
Link quality Excellent
Access point name Unavailable
Access IP Address Unavailable
Current receive rate 1.0MBPS
Current transmitter rate 54.0MBPS
Client Adaptor IP Address is there, but is that private ?
sorry but i am a bit of a dumbo at any thing techinical so any help would be very much appreciated.

First all you should stop using Internet Explorer, it's quite a security risk. If you like the easy of use but you don't really want move browsers then have a look at https://www.avantbrowser.com - it's based on IE, looks like it but has loads of cool features and is more secure.
Any way...
Go to Start >> Run >> Type cmd
In the black box type ping 192.168.1.0 - once that has finished, reply back with the part that looks like this Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Also try running a full spyware / virus scan as well.0 -
The router should have a reset button, try that first & power on/off NTL modem. I'm sure that the router has an easy setup button that identifies your connection type.0

Ok, if you have a firewall try turning it off and then repeating the ping test and see if that makes any difference.
You should have some lights on your router, one should say SYN - what colour is that? You should have another that says something like WLAN - what colour is that?0 -
Hi Jay
we have turned the firewall off and re done the ping it came back destination host unreachable and the same again 4 packets sent lost 100%

the lights are power yellow wlan yellow ethernet 1 yellow internet yellow
sorry forgot that bit in last message.0 -
Ok, try taking out the power lead in the back of the router and leave it for 10 minutes and then plug it back in and then try and access your router's control panel - http://192.168.1.0
If this doesn't work then take a pen and push the reset button in for 10 seconds or until the lights on the router flash and then try and access your routers control panel again. Just make sure you have your ISP settings before resetting your router!0 -
Sound to me like your router and p.c are on completely different networks.
in cmd type ipconfig /all
copy and paste the info back here please.0 -
I have taken the power lead out of router will leave for 10 mins. When i plug it back in and access my routers control panel will that give me my ISP settings? that is done now.0
