Does the fact that even local shop owners have put signs up so that people don't forget to take a ticket evidence enough that the signage isn't good enough? Should i contact this man and ask him if I can use this quote in my appeal?

He may be worth contacting because his quote was from the Summer. Maybe he - or some of the objectors mentioned in the Council Consultation
PDF link I gave earlier - might be aware of other appeals in the offing which would pave the way for you.

Surely you are not the first to appeal a ticket here?

Also, let me get this right - you phoned the Council to ask about how to view the Traffic Order for that street, and the Council fobbed you off to speak to what sounds like the man whose company makes those P&D ticket machines??!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I've just been sent the TRO and a Notice of Variation, am I allowed to upload these here? I've no idea whether it's valid or not.

Very interesting...I have just been reading what's been said so far today on your corresponding thread on pepipoo:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=46152

The TRO/TMO seems to be so out of date it's ridiculous, on pepipoo they are wondering if this means other on-street parking in Croydon is unenforceable!

I will watch that thread with interest, you do need the Council to drop themselves right in it by confirming in writing that this is the only TMO though. I see you are awaiting an email reply, hope you get that soon.

    :T Good thread!

  • I already have confirmation in writing that this is the only TMO relating to those bays! I've sent a copy of the email to someone else on pepipoo for safe keeping ;)

I would opine that pepipoo is correct in their assessment of that Order.

I venture that you will not have to pay this PCN, it would be a travesty of it was found any other way. If such madness ensued then it should be appealed further. But I suspect that this case will not get to adjudication.
The Order is, frankly, complete rot.
  • Sorry to resurrect this ancient thread, just thought some posters might be interested to know that Croydon have yet again rejected my appeal. I'm not supposed to post too many details about my appeal because apparently councils keep an eye on these boards, but needless to say, I will be taking them to PATAS. Again, they didn't bother to address the crux of my appeal, and maintained in their rejection letter that I was parked in a "pay & display" (their emphasis) bay, despite there being no requirement on my part to actually pay for anything since the bay allowed for 30 mins free parking! A little bit put out about getting another rejection, but am hopeful the adjudicator will rule in my favour.

Not being funny, but given the time and expense incurred going back the original location to take pictures - surely the petrol must have cost what it would have cost in fines?

I appreciate you're so far down the road now it's not worth giving up, but at the start it might have been cheaper to pay it! I do fully understand the principle and agree you are in the right however...

You're right, but it's not about the money anymore. I'm ashamed to admit it, but if I had known the council would be so indifferent and not even bother to read my appeal, I might not have bothered appealing at all.
