Just to reitterate, I have no idea if this is a bargain or not, but please before stating that you can find better spec for less money, be prepared to provide a link to this better option or people will get a little annoyed!!

Firstly I agree with quidsinquentin and I've seen more and more on this site where people are all too ready to shoot people down for trying to help.
As for the system itself ok it's not the latest up to the minute dual core super duper spiffy megabeast but it is pretty well specced and should fair zoom along.
To all those of you that are having a go then this is a C+P of a Micro Direct Shopping cart which will get you pretty much the same system if you want to build it yourself. I didn't log in but there's postage to add on the final price and funny enough it works out at just about the same price  Except the Lidl system has a 3 month warranty and it's already put together for you.
I've deliberately chosen mid-range components so as not to inflate the price, so thanks to the OP for this one

Keep posting - if a thread isn't particularly good it will drop out of sight quick
Not true
I have posted bargains where people are just too lazy to reply or have been asleep, as the bargain was while they were laying asleep in bed, and only lasted for an hour or two.0 -
talkshop wrote:You left out the DVB-T TV card, and an extra 512MB of RAM. plus a lot more

Oooo so I did but I did add the Hauppauge :embarasse although that was to get the remote more than anything lol
It's not exactly the same by any means and I'm working at the moment (shhhh  ) so kind of rushing lmao
EDIT: actually that is for 2 sticks of 512Mb DDR400
the box with the amount of items didn't copy over
I do see your point though and it was more an excercise in proving a point more than anything else
I didn't notice there's no modem on that M/b either lmao that's got to be worth another £8

Which goes to show that the days when you could build your own PC for less than you could buy it are starting to disappear. Manufacturers like Dell and Targa have machines that you'd struggle to match - I built my last two PCs but gave up when Dell started producing 5100s for less than £400 and now I just buy from them. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

Exactly! I've never bought a prebuilt machine before (apart from a notebook) but I think this PC is the last one I'll build. It's reaching the end of it's upgrade life and the way things are going with Dell, the machine cost is way less than what it would cost for the parts alone especially considering the cost of a dual core processor
Oh well it was fun while it lasted0 -
Spot on!quoia wrote:A few days ago you said that a particular offer for a disk drive wasn't very good value and that better was around.
I and several others asked you to show us where this might be.
I, and I suspect everyone else that asked, was not at all surprised by your total silence and inability to back up your claims, which were total bull$hit !
If you can't add anything constructive then why bother to waste not only your time but ours as well !
Needstoknow is quick to criticise others posting offers, but has not been able to provide links/specific information to better deals elsewhere. Saying "go to your local PC shop for a better deal" is unsubstanciated and a waste of other MSE'ers time.0 -
Many thanks for all the sensible messages above, I was gutted to read the first couple of replies to my original message but seeing that there are most definately still sensible people on here means I WILL continue to post any bargains rather than keep them to myself through not wanting to get shot down!!
Cheers

Well said mate! don't let the b******s grind you down!!!The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0

Agreed. If it is not a bargain to you then simply move on without getting personal. If you have a genuine suggestion as to why it is not a good bargain then simply state why.
A contributor could fail to post an absolute corker for fear of being shot down by someone who disagrees. One mans cr*p is another mans gold.0
