Thanks for this - I will be eagerly awaiting the update.
Wow - just read that it will allow you to play your own music as backing whilst playing games. Woohoo been wanting that for sooo long.
Now if only there was a way to copy tracks from my iPod to the XBox hard drive!0 -

I take it you're not running your 360 wirelessly through a router then?
I just stream music from my PC to the 360 and have always used my own music while playing games.
The update does look pretty nice.0 -
It is through a wireless router but my main PC is an Apple Mac
I am currently in the process of replacing my file/print/scan server though which is on XP Pro so I may be able to Media Extend some MP3s from it? When I heard that I could connect my iPod up to the 360 I thought 'woo, can just copy all the tracks from the iPod to the internal harddrive'. Umm sadly not!
Not played for a couple of days now, having withdrawal from NFSMW.0 -
Read on a website that this update was due today... guess there is still time to go since it's still only midday in the USA, but anybody know anything more about the update? I'm dying to listen to my own music during games now that I've upgraded my fileserver.0

OK ladies and gents (or should I say boys and girls?!), the spring dashboard update has been released (10am this morning, or 2am Pacific Time).
If you find your 360 isn't updating yet, it can take up to 4 hours or so to leak through the servers, but if you pop a game in it may start automatically updating then.
Hope that helps.0 -
Has anyone had any problems after installing the update?

It's fine for me.0

Yep, me too. Read about the time on the XBox forums this morning so logged in to XBox Live and it downloaded the update. All seems good, own music playback during games is working so I'm happy.0

No problems for me.
Main thing for me is the downloads are better organised and more efficient.
Still it has not fixed my Oblivion sound dropout problem during the cut scenes and intro.
