Why thank you Leopard  BTW you were referring to EXT3 as the Linux file system.
You've explained the flagging/encrypting thing well, and I just think that it's worth pointing out that all this lack of copy-ability is not Humax's or BBC's fault, but the programme makers. BBC hope to be able to flag programms individually as copyable or not (ie Heroes will be flagged, BBC-made Top Gear won't), so that you CAN copy the stuff you're allowed to, but at the minute, the 'no-copy' flag is just on all day.
The idea is that it must all be kept within the control of 1 box, so those expensive Pannies are able to burn 1 DVD or Blu-Ray and that's it, and the box is in charge.
I just hope no-one is put off by your comments about the 'tiny' 320gb drive. Certainly if a PVR veteran buys one he/she may know that he/she is a space-hog and will need to upgrade the drive straight away (easily done on the Humax I hear, and easy on the Freeview box I did it on), but I honestly think that your disk usage is very high and 90+% of people will be happy with it. The other 10% will find it pretty easy to go out and buy a 1 or 2TB drive and stick it in.0
