It is worth bearing in mind that some (i don't know about all) tips sell of products such as electrical items cheaply to people that need them.If it becomes a last resort for you.I've heard the other side of the story too,someone who got a great bargain by becoming friendly with the guy who worked there.
Gdluck though,i hate waste.

You could also give your local Womens Aid a ring, there are lots of mums and kiddies who hopefully will be rehomed and they wont have a tv etc
