Morning all
Molly - such dreadful news, such a waste - love and hugs to those devastated families and friends
Cold here this morning, don't think I'll be able to get any washing dry on the line today. Have got DW on and WM ready to put on in a mo. Had planned to have roast chicken for dinner tonight, but forgot to get the chicken out so have got some pork chops out to defrost and will have those with cauli and broccolli cheese, carrots and mashed potato. Need to make some more HM bread and some HM hob nobs. Will do some more washing, drying and ironing today, so I can pack as we are going away this weekend in our touring caravan to a fire work display - we go every year and have a great time. I'm also now coming to the end of 2 weeks leave and have to return to work on Monday - it seems like I've been away for ages - not really looking forward to it to be honest! Will also be doing a price comparision on mysupermarket so I make sure I get the best price ready for doing the food shop tomorrow. Time to sign off now otherwise I'll still be on here in an hour instead of getting on!
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs and much love to those that need them, I'm sure the whole country is thinking of our boys and girls in the forces at the moment, especially the families and friends of the deceased.

Morning !!
I'm glad to say hubbie's Jsa is finally in !! its a relief as we have been living off my money which has made things tight , But i think things will be tighter as i went to the consultant about my back , i did post an update on it yesterday , but will put here as well
the consultant said yes there has been a fair bit of change , my space holding the spinal cord has narrowed and one disc has virtually gone .
I explained that my life was'nt of a good quality for someone my age , and said that i have both chronic and acute pain and its making me very miserable , sleepless nights , unable to walk, stand or sit for long peoriods.
he's marked me as urgent for an injection which is going to be done by a pain specialist which is a bit more evasive than the last one .
if that does'nt work , then i will have to have an operation which has a 70% chance of being successful , but has a 30% chance of making it worse .
I asked about work , he did say ,i cant lift , push or pull or sit or stand for any length of time , so i'm guessing that rules out my job for a while .
I will have to speak to them this week and update them .
I'm also an urgent case on his list and said sorry that he did'nt realise that i had to wait 6months for a review and will make them more frequent from now on .
My OH came with me and now he realises the full impact of it all .
Im going to be on SSP from the 7th november so will have to do some sums , if we can live off my SSP and hubbie's JSA , it will be better for my back , if not i will have to speak to work to see what they can offer me
its cold and half sunny and bright .
Not sure whats for dinner and stuff , My mind has been too much on what options I have .
have a good day and hugs to those that need themThe original janiebaby

Morning All,
MSD - glad to hear Tris is a bit better
Betheebe - happy birthday!!
janiebaby29 - sorry to hear about your back. Hopefully this injection will do what it's meant to and you'll be better than before :grouphug:
Molly - condolences
such a senseless waste.
Well chums, I have had to wield some power this morning on the tram into work! Some kids were messing about pushing each other all over the place (which would have been fine if it wasn't rush hour!) and one of them ended up bashing into me and a pregnant lady and standing on my foot! So I drew myself up to my full 5 foot 3 and told them in no uncertain terms that I might look small but I'm scrappy and would have no problem "escorting" each of them off the tram if they didn't quiet down. It all went a bit quiet and I started to think "ooops I wonder if all 5 of them have knives" but I got a grunted apology from all of them and they stood quietly till they got off at the next stop! Victory for good manners :T
Not masses of OSiness here as still really just getting back into the swing of things. It's also a bit difficult sharing a freezer - but I should get some more space back once I've used up my frozen berries. I'm thinking I'm going to make some jam and pass them out as gifts for Christmas. Any tips?
Hope everyone has a lovely, successful day. Hugs to those who want/need xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,

Hello all, :hello:
Thank you for my birthday wishes, how kind of you to remember even though I have been AWOL. :A
I've been quite busy preping for Carnival, we have 22 staying for the w/end on the 13th-16th. Have cooked loads of chilli, curry, soups and bread. All portioned and frozen. I'll cook leek & cauli cheese dishes, quiches, and rice on the day as I find they don't freeze very well.
I bought some meat free mince for the veggies to make a shepherds pie but I'm not sure how long to cook it for. Anyone used it before?
Y/day I vinegered the windows and vacumed the walls. (they're stone and collect dust) Had DGD for the afternoon then tackled a pile of ironing. We have been without a WM for 2 weeks, now the new one has been running none stop for 2 days the ironing pile is in danger of toppling over and squishing who ever walks past it.
DD2 & DGD, 7mths now are coming here for the day. :j DH is taking me out for a meal tonight and meeting a bunch of friends.
Hope all have a good day, off to catch up.0 -

Good morning boys and girls.
I had a nice sleep this morning. Stirred enough to realise that ds was up and about then dropped off again for another 1/2 hour. Quick shower and down as I'm expecting a parcel with some sewing to do and don't want to miss postie and have to go into town later, or worse still be told I can't collect until tomorrow. DH is working away this week as usual and it would be good to break the back of the sewing before he gets back.
Went back to my cleaning last night much to ds's surprise. Wanted to finish the last bit of dusting and vaccing in our room. It's a big room with lots of 'stuff' in it, so although not tidy yet, it's clean at least. And the bathroom is too. Marvellous. Will look in a minute to see what Flylady has in store for me today.
too much food on the go as usual. Lots of veggies so I think I shall do a nice tray of roast veg with something tomorrow night. For tonight I have taken a pasta bake from the freezer. Looks a bit on the generous side for we two,but ds will take the rest for lunch tomorrow. I have soup sitting in the fridge for lunch today and am out with the 'girls' tomorrow. Will have to try and use the excess somehow. I'm in work later, so will cook later on after that, not very good at settling to bigger jobs before I go out. Will call for milk on my way home.
Been thinking about lots of you and hope you're getting along as well as you can.
Off I go to tackle the rest of my day."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Bethebee - happy birthday and welcome back :bdaycake: Hope you have a great day

Molly - that's so sad
janiebaby - sorry about your back
diva - glad Tris is in contact
Not much to report - vodka and cake for tea last night - paracetamol and donuts for breakfast
Waiting for a call from my insurance company. I spoke to my dad last night who told me to fight the decision to write it off as he reckons they are going for an easy salvage. He worked in the motor trade for years, so now I am armed with far more knowledge than I had before
He pointed out if I wanted to replace it, then given where we live, I'd have to get an old one anyway, so getting my own one back would be the better option.
Dinner will be curry and rice.
My mum has put my jewellery into her student union after negoitation for a percentage to go to a breast cancer charity - I was really really pleased about this - she said it had almost sold out too and the students have only been back since Monday.
Right - must go, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Hi all. I've been MIA lately due to my first French cold which has left me thick-headed and runny-nosed. I think it's on its way out but it's taking its time. I'm trying not to complain, though, because it is only a cold, and not something that will be with me all the time. I admire anyone who lives with illness and pain every day, and a cold is nothing.
MSD - sorry Tris is not himself. Glad you've got a good deal with Virgin.
Well, OS-wise, I've just been doing basic housew**k and spending the afternoons either crocheting, reading (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon - a brilliant if disturbing read) or sleeping.
I bought a bargain amount of onions the other day and made batches and batches of onion soup, which has been delicious and the perfect comfort food for someone with cold. Today, I am turning a chicken carcass into a casserole with leeks and mushrooms - more comfort food which is great in the gloomy damp weather we are having at the moment. Puddings have been fresh fruit salads with some delicious oranges, grapes and so on, so I'm not short of Vit C at the moment.
DH's finger, after our trip to hospital again last Friday, seems to be OK. They said a nurse would be phoning to arrange a home visit on Tuesday but no-one phoned and no-one turned up, so we changed the dressings ourselves. A nurse should be coming every other day so she may turn up today - or she may not.
It seems strange not to hear fireworks at this time of year but the French, of course, don't celebrate it. Hope you all have a good and safe one!
Well, I'm off to put the kettle on again.
Hope you all have a good day. I'll try and catch up with yesterday's thread a bit later.

Molly - just edited to send condolences and lots of (((hugs))) to your friends and their family for their tragic loss in Afghanistan. What dreadful news and what a terrible waste of a young life.
I love that book it is disturbing but an excellent read!!!
Morning all
Feeling so much better today!
Made Chicken Curry last night, tuna pasta bake for dinner for 2 days and bol sauce for spag bol tonight and lasagne tomorrow. This was all in time for spooks which was excellent!
Must say a big R.I.P for the poor lads who lost their lives in Afgan on Tuesday. My condolences go out to their family and friends. Dont forget to buy a poppy and support the Royal British Legion0 -
Good morning :hello:
Betheebee - Happy Birthday hon :bdaycake:We really miss you, would love you to post more often but I know you're very busy x
Molly41- So sorry to hear the news x
CRANKY - So glad it all went ok on Tuesday. I was thinking of you. Hope George enjoyed his birthday.
Janiebaby - (((HUGS))) (gentle ones!), I hope you don't have to wait long for the injection and that it will help.
Diva - Prayers going to Tris from here xx
mioliere - Hope the cold gets better fast - at least you have nice clean air there, so that may help speed it on its way!
Lowesy - Well done
I'm sure that most of the time teens just don't realise they're being a nuisance - I read once that it's to do with the stage of development their brains are at, which makes them unable to be anything but self-centred.
Flutterby - Hope the garden is a huge success and that you feel better soon!
tired mum - Thinking of you - any news re new school for DS?
Celyn - So sorry about the bike x Edit - just read your today's post - Good luck I bet your Dad is right!
jackieO - Keep forgetting to say I'm so glad you are going to have the treatment, though annoyed that you had to get funding from McMillan for it just because of where you live! Good luck to your DGS, hope he gets the job.
Penny_Pincher - Hope you feel a little better xx
(((HUGS))) to all who are tired, poorly, and/or sad atm.
Welcome to our new posters.
My vertigo is improving, thank goodness! I've stopped feeling queasy, which is a big relief. We went to see DD2 and family on Tuesday. DGS looks very cute in his glasses. He is entitled to the thinner lenses for free as his eyes are so bad, which is bad in one way but good in another!
I gave some leftover lamb and squash curry to DD1 on Sunday but her family didn't eat it (DSIL says he doesn't like lamb) so I got it back from her y'day (it had been frozen, then in the fridge) and DH and I had it for our dinner last night - so glad it didn't end up going to waste!
Tonight we're having stir fry with pork and peppers.
Bye for now :wave:0 -
Morning all
Goodness it is cold today - had a terrible nights sleep last night. Yest at work had my flu injection in one arm and my swine flu injection in the other arm and everytime i turned in my sleep last night it woke me up as both sites are sore! (pathetic really!)
Have read thread but due to lack of sleep all news has muddled in my head so might go back and read again:rotfl:
Bonfire tea here is always pie and peas followed by parkin so nice and easy. Don't think we will go to any displays as we usually stay with the dog as she is terrified of fireworks but luckily she is so deaf this year that it doesn't appear to be affecting her much - all the same we will stay with her.
Take care everyone
