I bought a dress off ebay, thinking it would fit - it didn't, it never occured to me to ask for a refund...I think I've probably still got it somewhere (ok I know I have it somewhere!)

I don't think it's your fault the dress doesn't fit. I wouldn't refund as obviously it wouldn't be in the same condition you sent so if you sold it again it might not reach a similar price. If you do decide to refund it should only be the price of the dress (no p&p costs eithewr way) minus your FVF as well as fees for relisting.

I just checked throught the items your buyer has bought in the recient past wow another 2 wedding outfits both in pink
    size 14/16 item number 9315647797
size 14 and 16 suit item number 9316386603

I think the buyer may be telling the truth, it doesnt fit going of past purchases.
It is upto you if you offer a refund and take the item back. You do have a refund policy in your auction and it states the terms if they can meet those terms then it isnt a problem, the refund should be less any shipping costs, ebay fees, and any relisting fees. return postage should be at the buyers expense and be returned by insured to the value of the dress. just incase it doesnt turn up.

The buyer should have known what size dress to bid on and if they were in any doubt they should have asked for specific waist, bust and hip measurements. It's their own fault. If it were me I would suggest they sell it back on ebay.

I was got some jeans on ebay, they were next jeans brand new with tags but when I got them they were totally the wrong size - think they must have been rejects or something, there was no way that they were the size on the ticket! I never asked for a refund - I just resold them on.

I've bought a few things on Ebay that don't fit/don't look right and I would never dream of asking for a refund, I simply sell them on.

You're not a business trader so I if it was me I wouldn't refund because the item is as described.

Please don't refund! It means it is harder for the rest of us! There was nothing misleading in the listing, the dress was as you said, they left feedback already, you really have no obligation whatsoever any longer to the buyer. Don't refund. It is their dress/problem now. Not yours. You have properly completed your side of the contract and owe them nothing at all, not even any more of your time.

why not offer to accept it back, less all fees and a transaction / restocking / relisting fee, something like 20% or something

don't refund any postage at all

so, of the 43.50 paid, take off 20% to cover all fees = £8.70 = £34.80

that way, you get a couple of quid in your pocket, and the buyer is happy also as he's not totally out of pocket on the item

if they don't like those terms then don't refund at all

personally i like keeping custards sweet, several of my dimmer purchasers have become good repeat customers

If it simply doesn't fit I wouldn't refund the buyer, it isn't your fault.

I've bought jeans and tops in the past from eBay and they haven't always fitted but I just sell them again on eBay.

No, I'm sorry but I wouldn't accept a return in this way.

People could be wearing items and sending them back all the time otherwise.
If something I buy off of ebay doesn't fit I just sell it on, I wouldn't dream of asking someone to have it back.
