Hi, a bit of a dilema here, i bought a dress from Next which i sold on Ebay last week. The buyer emailed me yesterday asking when i posted it, i couldnt post it on monday as the PO was closed. Then they left me positive feedback before receiving it. I sent it special delivery yesterday and they have just sent me an email saying that they got it and it was a very nice dress but it doesn't fit the girlfriend will i take it back.
I haven't came across this before and i am reluctant to take it back as it hadn't even been opened and now it has. I have a slight blurb about returns on the listing. The item number is 8286049535 (if i am breaking any rules then i will remove it)
What do you think i should do?

You say you'll return if it isn't as described. So if it doesn't fit, that isn't not as discribed. I personally wouldn't refund.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

I personally wouldnt refund either! If they kept on I would have them return it at their cost first before refunding only the price they paid in the first place (not refunding the price they paid to return it to you).Weight Loss - 102lb0

I will quite gladly accept returns if i haven't described them accurately. If the item is new then it has to be returned unopened in it's sealed original packaging.
Quotes aren't working - however you state it must be unopened - it's now opened as she tried it on.....
I'd have to say sorry no refund....
 Good luck though

Did you get the email the day the dress was delivered? Is there a possibility the dress was worn for a particular event and they're now trying to return it?
If there's nothing wrong with the dress and they've already left feedback then I wouldn't refund.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0022 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0

I don't have any refund policy at all but will often accept a refund if I'm in a good mood. I usually explain that I will only refund unit cost and not the original post and packing and sometimes I have even asked for an additional £1 towards my fees to relist. However, a seller unless a business trader, does not really have to refund just because someone doesn't like what they have bought, if you don't want to refund then don't, she can't hurt you as she has already left feedback.

Isn't it true that business sellers are required to have a refund policy. I know I always put one on my auctions, even though I'm not a business seller. I stay clear of auctions that don't have a returns policy listed and those auctions which say things like "returns only accepted if item is faulty."
Once again not sure whether the distance selling rules apply to eBay sellers or not, perhaps they don't apply to private sellers, but if I send out an item and it doesn't fit a person, then I would definitely refund. You're selling a clothing item so there is always a chance that this will happen and it may not be the fault of the buyer. I can be a medium in some clothing, large in others and so on. Different clothing has different fits.
Before I go off on a tangent, my advice is to refund, although I agree with Soo, less postage costs, as this is the root most online stores take with refunds for sizing issues.Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0

User discretion I guess, but I would not expect it back if you advertised the best you could.Regards,

My tendency would be to refund. But I would make it clear that the refund will only be for the auction cost minus any postal charges. I'd also make it clear that once they'd returned the item i will check it for 'wear and tear' (if you catch my meaning) before the refund. That is, if it has been obviously used, washed etc...... then no refund.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
