Alliance and Leicster are my new best friends!

Me and my girlfriend went into our local branch the other day to see what they had to offer. We walked out £250 richer for doing nothing!!
I opened a Premier Account - receiving £100. I then recommended my girlfriend (who was sat next to) to also open one. I received a further £25 for recommending someone and my girlfriend received £125 for opening an account and being recommended!
This is all on the back of my now former bank, Halifax, whose behaviour to its most important customers ie those using an origonally free overdraft facility, has been shocking.
Switch now, they change everything for you. Am even temped to get a placard and stand outside Halifax and earn further £25 for each person that gets recommended.

You're overdraft with Halifax was not free (unless you have an Ultimate Reward Current Account which is unaffected by the changes), it may cost more under the new fee structure, but you would have paid debit interest.podgerjones wrote: »Switch now, they change everything for you.
I hope the switch goes well for you, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side (especially in relation to a Santander operation). See below:-
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2056059Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
I have switched today as well, from Halifax. It was so easy, and I feel I am much better off for it! How do I 'reccommend' someone? Did I need to do it at the same time as opening mine, or can a friend just say I reccommended it to them, when they open one?0

Have you seen this post?
It's a useful overview of how A&L's online banking works. 'Not very well' seems to be the key message, so you'll have to be extra careful to ensure you don't go over your limit due to them doing daft things.
I hope the move to A&L goes well for you, they don't have a good reputation, based on what I've read on these boards.
Just on the first page of the Banking and Savings boards now are the following about A&L...
alliance and leicester - santander zero card
What the HELL is Alliance & Leicester Playing at??
Alliance and Leicester £100 for opening account: a farce
Contacting A&L 'Customer Services'...

See here for how to recommend a friend. http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/current-accounts/recommend-a-friend.aspx

I'm sure they won't be your new best friends for long. Terrible terrible bank. Just read the links rb10 has posted. I think I've contributed to one or two of them!
I do try and post about them when I can, its my little revenge for months and months of hell and expense. You have been warned.
for what its worth, I'm with Halifax for my main account and I find them to be great. The online system is far superior to A&L as you will soon find out. Also, when my A&L account got hacked into and 2K taken, I had to tell them to suspend my account!!!! The hackers didnt manage to get into my Halifax account, however, I still rang Halifax to explain the situation and the staff there immediatly suspended the account and gave me really good instructions what to do next.
Good luck!!£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190
