Just to be clear, you're trying to pay off a debit balance, not put a credit card into credit? You're wording isn't very clear, but I will assume you mean the former. If the money bounces, I would assume you're using the wrong sort code/ account or card number (because something clearly doesn't match, so Santander bounce the payment back).

I would contact A&L Credit Cards (0845 602 1582) first of all and confirm the details required to make a bill payment via internet banking.

If you're struggling to add the credit card to your internet banking I would contact A&L Internet Banking (0844 800 1144).

If all else fails I would contact A&L Telephone Banking (0844 800 9000), and request to setup, and make a bill payment over the phone.

I don't know if you have attempted these options, but your post suggests not. Also, why are you telling us about your debts? This has nothing to do with the post.

Apologies, I previously mis-read your post. I will ask another question, why are they being difficult? Surely paying a credit card is not a difficult endeavour.

Normally, people post that information in their signature.

If you haven't spoken to them, how are they being difficult? Also, why post if you "do not care"?

OP said "I have actually spoken to..."

    Thanks my mistake.

  • why not try setting up a standing order, not a direct debit. standing order - you decide the ammount and that can't change. DD, they decide how much and can change it when they want. this is prob why it wont work. in fact for anything regular, phone internet etc change from DD to standing order?
  • I had the same happen - paid via a and l and payment came back in - had to spend ages on phone aguing to get £12 fee santander charged me refunded!
  • Try doing a bill payment. Sort Code: 090099 Acc No:01000007. Ref:16 Digit Card Number.

Alternatively, write a cheque or drop cash in over the counter.
