I am totally confused by this. Your wife told you she was born in 1939. She told
you the 1942 date was wrong, you decided to use it anyway, You now have
another certificate saying she was born in 1935. I think it immaterial that you are either 6 or 10 years younger than her. Your wife became of pension age at
60 when did she receive her pension, that should give you an idea of what is on
record regarding her birth year.

I cannot see any reason for people to say she is a liar, she told you, and I cannot see any reason at all for your claim that she is not the brightest. You say you love her then please show a bit a loyality.

You have been offered advice and a very generous offer by a poster to use
their own resources to try and help you but do not seem to want that

As I say I am confused, what help do you want. I am feeling very sorry for your
wife at the moment. Perhaps you should pay her the respect she deserves and
let her post for herself, when the people that are trying to help would have a
clearer picture of the situation.

Patchie can you tell me what question I have'ent answered I have never said unlike you that my wife is thick she may not be all that literate but she'de give you a run for you're money how did you have the feeling that my wife was not British this is a red herring, I have mentioned that my wife is born in Uk not that it matters in this case I stated her real date of birth. You are what we say here in britain a stirrer there should be something in front of that. Woofles the problem is insurance companies use any ruse to delay or avoid paying out on policies. They could delay till right after mine or my wife's death.Thanks for your kind words Rockingit. Meg72 I have not taken up the offer because it was to find my wife's true date of birth I have already stated about 3 times that the true date is 1935 which makes her ten years older than me I also think thats immaterial. She cant post as having spent a lot of time in hospital when she was a child she missed out on a lot of schooling but she's not thick as some have tried to allude to. Errata my wife was with me at the medical centre when I changed her date of birth to the correct date and yes they believed us no proof was asked for. I did say I was only kidding about changing it again.

Still some replies to do,Errata:cool: why do you think I am trying to do things behind my wife's back is that what you do, my wife knows all about this. I have stated that the correct birth was 1935 a good few times on here. Joe Bloggs there is nothing specific I am going to citizens advice this coming week. My wife got her pension based on the 1935 date.

I cannot find any post apart from your own that says your wife is thick.
Your wife says 1939 you have another certificate that says 1942 the one that you decided to use so why now is the 1935 the true one.
OP I can think of a word that rhymes with thick that I would think applies to you. As I stated I feel very sorry for your wife.

I assummed this because I asked was your wife born in the Uk and were you married in the UK? You replied with we were married in the UK, I therefore concluded that she wasn't born int he UK because you had not commented on that. Also the fact that she had the wrong DOB on medical records made me belive she had not had them all her life.

The reason I asked as I have already stated is that I can access records of people born and married in this country, but not overseas as I only have a UK membership of the site I use. When I offered you had not made it clear that the correct DOB was 1935.

As I have already stated my grandparents were not British born and I have no problem with non UK born people, but you clearly do, as you seem to be taking this as some sort of insult and calling me a stirrer for thinking it.

Personally if I receive an offer of help that is not required, then I tend to say thank you, that was kind, but I am OK. That is considered polite.

If her DOB is 1935 and you have the relevant certificate why are you posting this peculiar scenario and not just getting on with showing the 1935 certificate around and ammending things?

Whether or not this will invalidate your endowment policy then the only people who can answer that are your insurance company with intimate details of your exact policy.

I would have thought that giving your thread the title 'My wife is not the brightest penny' rather implies that you think she is thick, particularly as your wife's intelligence is irrelevant to the question of how her lying to you about her date of birth will affect life insurance payouts if she dies.

Your' the one who brought up the word thick Patchie and thats what you are thinking. yes I am taking it as an insult, there is a lot of difference between the word thick and not the brightest penny. which was meaning she was not very literate, you also say I have'nt answered questions well you have'nt answered my last question to tell me which question I have'ent answered.Do me a favour dont help me again. Meg you dont have to feel sorryfor my wife we are quite happy she has had a good life with me. There are to many people who make wrong assumptions in this forum. This is getting to personal so I am taking no further part in this, thank you to the nice people who tried to help.
