They aren't suspicious - they are trying to help you.

Trying being the operative word; you aren't helping them very much.

Is there something specific about the endowment policy that concerns you ? What is the nature of the payouts you are concerned about? What information have they sent you in the past?
It might be worth collecting all your documents and trying the citizens advice bureaux.

i have been following this thread, but havent posted...

i can totally relate to the gentleman's/op's wife my mil gets a little confused at times and still thinks her son ( my hubby) is in his 30's:rotfl: he just turned 47...lol..

he has posted for help.... not for his wife to be called a liar,

what people seem to forget, not all of us have perfect memories or writting skills, are whizz kids at maths etc... so please just before you post just think about these things before you make a reply.

Mse is all about helping each other regardless ... not to go casting blame or call each other things.....

OP ..sorry i honestly wouldnt know what to say except maybe either take some legal advice on the matter, or as another poster has posted, phone the insurance company, as say there has been some errors in the date of birth...

The OP doesn't need to take legal advice. The wife needs to contact the local Registrar and ask them to sort it out ! Something that should have been done before the wife reached pensionable age.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Thanks COOLTRIKERCHICK the most friendly reply so far. Errata how many times have I got to say we know the correct birthdate its 1935. As I have said I am going to citizans advice this coming week and depending on what I am told there I may get legal advice as well. I have been paying for these two policys for 20 years and its a bit worrying to have to think that they may be voided because I was unaware of my wife's true birthdate, and I want to get it sorted now rather than when I am at my lowest ebb. As COOLTRIKERCHICK says not all of us are perfect my wife did'ent do this on purpose to deceive the insurance company I believe that she had come to think that 1939 was her birthdate, she is not the brightest penny, but she has no badness in her. Although she did, I dont like my wife being called a liar by some ignoramus'es on here. I am considering coming clean to the insurance company. But I will get my advice first.

Suspicious Tony? Why? What is so wrong about being non uk born, my grandparents weren't UK born, I have no problem with that, but I feel that you do!!!

How can you say that my replies are unfriendly have i not offered to spend my time looking into this for you? I give up.

I am starting to get seriously suspcious now. I find it hard to believe that you have recieved birth certificates for 2 people that are not your wife that is in breach of the data protection act, You could steal someones identitiy with that info.

We aren't calling your wife a liar, but you are calling her THICK!

Sorry, but this is getting more and more confusing and I am by no means thick. If your wife was born in the UK, she will have had the same medical records from birth, so your GP will know her date of birth!
  • Patchwork - I just wondered if you'd ever considered a time, not that long ago, before computerised records, and Data Protection? When human beings with smudges on their glasses pulled ropey old filing cards out of rusting cabinets. Tony's wife was 45 before most people had even seen a computer.

I've just read this entire thread and the story smacks of administrative incompetence, something our lovely government has always been famous for, rather than treason and plot - good luck with your quest Tony, and whilst no expert on the subject I'd have thought a few hours of form filling should see you right.

So does your wife draw a pension, I may be wrong about this as I have received my paperwork to draw my pension in January and they have my correct date of birth tied in I presume with my NI number. Why should there be a problem with the endowments, provide the correct paperwork, they may ask for proof of receiving a pension, and get it sorted.
Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw

apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.

rockingit - if you have read the entire thread then you will know that I have offered help and others have offered advice, only for the OP to ignore it and reiterate requests that have been answered, we are frustrated. He also doesn't answer questions put to him in order that we may give him more specific advice.

As to his wife being 65 before computers were around, what nonsense. I was working on computerised records for local government 20+ years ago and that was not new then.

Also as someone else mentioned NI numbers will be linked to DOB

There is no excuse for 2 errors, pre computers or post or do you imagine Rockingit that pre computers we all lived in an era of confusion, chaos and errors. There are such things as paper records, you know. You sound like someone who has always had computers and can't believe that anything functioned before them!
