Engine oil light

When I turn on the ignition the oil light comes on and stays on until I start the car. Why is this? The car is a 1998 1.0 Corsa. Only just bought it and a bit worried.

  • NO I'm not =(
  • Well actually my brother just bought it, it didn't come on when he was inspecting the car.
  • Have you and your brother owned/driven alot of cars?

    I'd suggest not.

  • We checked the oil and it was hard to tell because I think the oil is new, it is not black yet. We added some oil incase. Is it okay then? As long as it doesn't come on when I'm driving?

    This is normal operation.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • its fine, if it stays on you need to worry
  • Ahhhh thankyou, you put him at ease. Wonder why doesn't happen on my car.. oh well thanks a lot.
