    Hi everyone,

Thank you very much for the good wishes. DH and SIL went to get the death certificate yesterday - the registrar kept asking them if they wanted her to stop registering it and refer it to the coroner because one of the causes of death was fibrosis of the lungs due to a drug toxicity. She'd been taking a drug for 7 years which she should not have been taking for more than 12 months, despite querying it with the GP a number of times. Anyway they decided not to have an autopsy because they don't want to make any sort of claim, but they really want to make sure it doesn't happen to someone else so I think they will be contacting the PCT.

They are going up to the Wirral today (where MIL lived) to carry on with arrangements so i'll be by myself for a few days. It'll give me chance to tackle the ironing mountain and wash all the bedding that's been used over the past week or so.

Cranky and George, I hope all goes as well as it can today.

    Morning all!

Jayne and George - my thoughts are with you both and your families today xxx

Snoozer - I'm very sorry to hear of your loss xxx

    Zippychick - happy birthday! xxx

Hugs to everyone else who needs one and congrats to all those who have things to celebrate!

Children all still off school here, friend and her boys went home yesterday, and I was at work last night - amazingly the house isn't a total tip, but does need a whizz around, will get them all to help me before I go off to work tonight. OS stuff today has involved a restoring lie in (more OS than face creams I think, and a whole lot more effective!) and cooking dd1 and dd3 pancakes - dd2 and ds are still fast asleep, despite the smoke alarms going off twice! They are very sensitive I hasten to add, I didn't burn anything, well not today anyway!

Taking kids out to lunch to celebrate the end of their hols, I'm in Dublin tomorrow and dd3 goes back to school on Thursday, so our last day all together. Will then watch a film later with them and may even fit in a snooze!

Dinner for the troops will be gammon in cheese sauce with chips and whatever veg I find first in the freezer, prob leeks. Pud will be bakewell tart (my fave!)

Going to have a browse around now and catch up with what you've all been up to and then see if I can find any pressies on grabbit, oh is already shocked by the pile in his cupboard (he's storing the stuff for me this year as my understairs cupboard, the pressies traditional home, is being used for other stuff!). It's not that there is a vast amount really, it's just that even three or four bits for each child soon makes a pile, together with friends and god children it is mounting up!

Have a good day all xx

  • Hi everyone

Tristan has decided to have the operation. They are taking him in today (he is 8 hrs behind us over there). I don't know all the details and won't bore you with the ones I have but there is a danger it may not give the positive result we want or worst case scenario, he may not get through it.

BUT I know he will, and would just like to ask for the usual amazing support I know you can all give him. I know we are all thinking of Cranky today and I haven't read the thread to know if anyone else is in need but if I could ask my friends on here to light a candle or send some positive thoughts out there, I would be grateful. If the operation is successful then he will gain some more time and that is very precious to him and his family and me.. because you all know what he means to me.

    Thank you so much

Please excuse me if I am a bit over emotional with my prose but I only had about four hrs sleep on and off and I am running on adrenalin and sugar. :rotfl:(bit like a fractious two year old!)

  • Pipkin- don't feel bad about the onion error, when i first made jelly (from a packet, i was about 11 at the time) i thought 1/2 pint meant 1 to 2 pints so i put in 2 pints of boiling water and 2 pints of cold water thinking i'd get loads of jelly.....needless to say it didn't set.

os wise i'm making pickled onions for my grandads xmas present today, and going to try to finish my sil scarf for her birthday so i can give it to her on saturday.

Morning all, hoping everyone day goes as well as it can. I've only just read about Cranky's DH.

I woke up with a banging headache, but I think it's migraine. I hate taking the medication in the day, will take it tonight, making do with some ibuprofen and the anti-nausea stuff. My parents are on their way, Dad is 75 today, so we're having a meal out at the pub where my ds is taking part in a 'souling play' later on in the evening. MIL coming too, but dh is working away. I hope I feel like eating. So far I've had a bowl of cornflakes and some chocolate chips.

OS wise I've been very busy with the housework yesterday, coffee maker and all that stuff is shining, did lots of little cleaning jobs that took the whole day. Ironing and started to wash the duvets as well.

Today I took all the CDs off the shelves dusted and put them back. That's about it apart from shuffling the laundry round. Oh, done some other little suggested flylady tasks, but this room is pretty sorted as we have had several lots of visitors in the last couple of weeks.

I have to get the guest room ready for my parents. Only here one night, but it still needs doing. I have an early start tomorrow to take them to the airport.

Need to sort the food in the fridge too.

    Afternoon all

Another early run taking DS1 to work this morning at 6:30am (DD was still sleeping too...little monkey never sleeps past 6 usually!) then home to get everyone elso sorted for work/college/school - DH had packed up my lunch for me which did save me some time this morning (bless him - he is good!) Threw dinner in the SC before I left (bolognese) - yesterdays Chicken Tikka was a big success even DH who doesn't like curry said it smelt lovely all day! and there was 2 portions left that were put in the freezer this morning.

I know its only Tuesday but I can't wait for the weekend already - I feel a bit distracted this week and can't get my head into work properly and it doesn't help that the boss is away and I have more of an opportunity to skive a little!

    Anyway back to it!

Hope everyone has a productive day and finds the strength they need

DD still ailing and needing lots of attention. Despite that I still managed to make some donut muffins and cheese scones. I don't know where Nigella gets her muffin cases from. Her receipe is supposed to make 12. Well I doubled it and only got 14 muffins  Is she using fairy cake ones? If I'd have filled them as much as she suggested I'd have even less than I've got.

Diva - Thinking of you and Tris and his family. Sending lots of positive vibes his way xx
