OS Daily Thread - Tuesday 3 November

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 3rd November. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS friends,

Cranky - I wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you today and hoping that you will be able to find some peace and closure. I am sure the huge amount of love and support you have around you is making a difference already.

Bitsy - I bought it from Suttons HERE. There are four types of mushrooms available. We 'planted' it on 27th Sept and were eating them on about 30th Oct so it was four weeks. We kept it in our utility room and just sprayed it with some water every other day.
SunnyGirl - ever tried condensed milk poured over sliced banana? *does a Homer Simpson type drool*
Bargain - so glad you are enjoying the smilies!! giggle.gif
Haribo - so glad you don't have wet feet!
Piglet - so glad your mum is doing well and you are a lovely daughter to take care of them both so well.
Rosyred - fingers crossed for your son

Am expecting my Approved foods delivery today so that is always something to look forward to. I did sneak in a couple of naughty things too which I may have to put at the bottom of the box to easy my OH in gently...giggle.gif

Dinner last night was roast beef again - my OH fancied doing another roast and I am not one to turn down a roast potato. Tonight we are having a nice beef salad with baked potatoes and grilled mushrooms. Lunch is home made bread with I think some butchers ham off the bone.

Am talking to Tris. He is down tonight, but just sad, not mad! We are talking through the surgery option again. If he says yes they want to take him in tomorrow.
I hope you all have a good start to the week. With love, light andghug.gif for everyone who would like one.

  • Morning MSD & all who follow
I'm off to work soon, just sitting here with a cuppa.
It's getting busier & busier at work, I don't seem to be able to get to the bottom of my intray.
We had a whole staff photo taken yesterday, but they forgot to tell me so I escaped, lol.
There were a lot of surprised people around, disapointed that hubby didn't get the job, they felt he'd proved himself capable.
    Have a good day.
    Hugs Hester

Morning. Wind and rain here. Lit the log fire for the first time last night and it got pretty hot in the room, so I guess it's not too cold yet.
BBQ'd burgers for tea in the garage, felt like some thing different.....:D
Work today OH will be hoping for some teaching supply..
Not much else going on...... Have a nice day

Morning everyone. Not too sure what the weather is doing, but I'll find out. Must pick up my umbrella before I go though, just in case. I finished my shopping list so hopefully I can stick to it and only get what we need. I really must keep working on that ;) Anyway, putting makeup on and getting ready to go to work here. Wish I'd got time for a cuppa, but I'll probably grab one at the bus station if the bus isn't late.

Found out my bus is going to be cancelled in January so I've got to find alternative arrangements *sigh* Just as it was becoming OS and great, it has to go :(

Anyway, have a great day everyone. (((hugs)))

    Morning.

Cranky Thinking about you & George today.

Well it's absolutely tipping it down out there this morning  The dogs have just looked at me as though I'm mad when I held the back door open for them to go out!

Breakfast will definitely be porridge I think. Lunch is going to be some spicy lentil soup & we're having something with chicken tonight. I'm going to have a look on the recipe index for some inspiration.

We're visiting MIL this afternoon, she was very confused yesterday bless her. She thought that one of the nurses was our DD. She has been assessed as needing residential care so I'm going to start visiting various homes with my SIL in the next day or so.

Have a good day everyone whatever you're doing & hope you stay dry ;)

    Good Morning Chums,
tipping down here at the moment, very grey and grotty looking.Youngest DD coming this morning for coffee and chinwag, then this afternoon I have craft club so that should keep me busy. Just had to put my heating on for an hour as its so chilly.I don't put it on timed any more as my house normally warms up very quickly as its insulated very well.I just put it on for an hour at a time when ever it feels a bit cold.I did this last year and saved myself a fortune.
I must ice some fairy cakes this morning that I whipped up last night after I came home from college.I am also going to get out some soup from the freezer for lunch and a bit of salmon for dinner tonight. Right I must get the rubbish out, or the dustbin men will be come and gone before I know it.They never have a set time here and you mustn't put out the bag until after 7.00.a.m. Their arrival seems to be a moveable feast, and I never know from one week to another when they will turn up. I phoned the massage man but got the answerphone and I am waiting for him to return my call.I know he works all over the southeast, so he may be away for a few days.

Cranky, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today.
<<hugs>> to anyone who is feeling sad and down
and may we all have peace today

    Morning all.
rough night with DD and DS. DD sounds like a barking dog :( and was really restless despite loads of olbas oil, vicks and wet towels in her bedroom. DS decided on a nocturnal visit at 3am so had to get into bed with him.
Not much planned today. Its damp and grey and with DD chest being the way it is shan't go far. Chicken curry for tea tonight (which I have yet to put on) and some more HM leek and potato soup from yesterday. How long does it keep for? Can I stretch it for the week???

Jayne & George - Thinking of you both today. Everrything that I type seems so inadequate so just going to send you lots of hugs and hope that Paul has the send off he deserves xx

Snoozer - My condolences on the loss of your MIL xx

Diva - My mums mushroom kit was only £5 perhaps that's the reason behind it's poor yield ;)

N9eav - our first home had an open fire. It's this time of year that I miss it (although not the clearing of the grate etc ;)). Mind you it was a pig to light as despite living not far from a busy main road and lots of road pollution we had to use smokeless fuel

Hugs to those that need them.
Have a good day OS or not.

Jayne and George I will be thinking of you both today. I hope you find the strength to get through it.

Wet old day today. I've got nothing much planned beyond catching up with the laundry. I might pop to homebase and buy a new broom-I know how to live:)

I'm amassing a collection of black bananas so I might make some banana bread. I also want to start a batch of yogurt.

Breakfast is beans on toast and fruit.

Lunchboxes have rolls with salami in, muffins and grapes. OH has tuna in his rolls. I might have a crèpe monsieur from the freezer (pancake with ham and cheese in-leftovers from a lunch last week), I'll add some mushrooms.

Supper will be baked potatoes, coleslaw, sweetcorn and mackerel.

Cranky and George - Thinking of you today, sending lots of love and support to you both.

Got up this morning to rain and grey skies, looks like autumn/winter is really with us! Made more headway with DS2's bedroom, got several bits on ebay and more cleared out, have bags ready to take to the tip and Charity shop. Need to get that finished today as now had enough! I made spag. bol last night for dinner, really enjoyed but not really sure about this evening, had a meal plan but not happy with it, so will be looking to amend that. Will be baking at some point today for lunchboxes.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
