  • Get a grip man. It's just a car. Scrap it and buy a Toyota Prius Hybrid, you will be amazed how cheap they are to run. I get about 90mpg

so your the type of guy that drives those ugly turds then. £20k to save a few quid on fuel, genius. you should tell toyota that you get 90mpg as they only seem to be getting 72.4mpg. you can check that here if you like.

I have a similar problem with 2.2TD Nissan Almera Tino......aceleration is fairly sh*te recently and really struggling going up hills - fine if you are already doing 60mph on the approach of the hill but otherwise I am in 2nd gear and leaning forward in an effort to get to the top IYSWIM???

I didnt think people actually BOUGHT these things! I thought they were given to people. People with no interest in cars. People who wear beige and have a Roy Cropper shopping bags.

Anyway, back to the OP, ebay item 290363748508 is what the MAF/AMM looks like. Have a look near your air filter box and follow your nose a bit, its there and is just a few screws to remove/replace.
I'll let you do your own goole search for !!!!!! though...

My son in law got the latest 2 ltr version of the prius about 2 months ago. Normal mixed driving he does no better 45-47mpg, never seen 60mpg even on the motorway:confused:

I woonder how reliable or cheap to run one of those will be at 10 years old?;)

He didn't choose it either, they all got the same car by decree:eek:

That MPG can be achieved with most bog standard diesels :T
  • People only seem to bother on about what mpg they get cos the car has the digital readout telling you so.

I prefer the brim method, fill tank to the top and work out how many litres you used for previous mileage from that tank.

£55 of diesel got me 645 miles on a roadtrip to Scotland last weekend in the Passat :money: I've not worked out what mpg that eqautes to yet.

Last time I borrowed a diesel passat for a weeks training course 80 miles away I got 53 mpg over that period and I was hammering at times and in traffic jams also. Never had one but driven a few, sound diesel car;)

thats the sort of mileage i am used to on the lovely old passat. trip to southern normandy from my home near newcastle - single tank.

12 miles to the litre at best on a trip to cornwall. this car is ten years old.

its returning less than that now tho. I put in 55 litres for 526 miles today.

but tis booked in for wednesday.

May have to do a new post about my daughter's Ka. You have all been so fantastically helpful.
