Southampton Airport / Parkway parking - help!

Options
I'm having problems finding somewhere to park at Southampton airport for the weekend (Fri night - Sun night).

The BAA short stay is extortionate at over £13 a day, but I do recall someone here once mentioned parking at Southampton Parkway station, which was free at weekends... (hope I remember correctly!). I can't find the thread at all, so any ideas anyone?

I used to use this car park afrom Fri night til Sun afternoon and yes it was free, but haven't had the need to recently. Just be careful where you leave your car. Try and park as close to the station building as poss as this car park used to be notorious for break-ins !!

Hi I pass it everyday on the way to work, and I would like to reiterate what exel said. If you do use the station car park park close to the station, there's 2 sides to choose from, the left has most spaces but is more remote at the far end, and the right is used as a short cut by walkers and cyclists, so again best to park near the station. It's not a really rough area as such, just remote with not much security in place.

Oh and last time I used it to catch a train, it was £6 per day, weekdays.

Hey, I work for Southampton Airport and agree that the car parking can be a bit steep! Completely agree that to park at Parkway is cheaper, but must stress how common the break ins/vandalism is.

Is there no possbility you can catch the train to the airport? Anyway have a nice time where ever you're off too and I'll try and make sure your flight isn't too delayed!

Oh no, you've all got me worried now... _pale_

Then again, it's not a posh car and it's only for 48 hours... Will probably take a chance and try to park somewhere not too remote.

And regarding trains, it's not really an option, as we're too far away and the train would be quite a bit more expensive than the parking. Plus, with a toddler in tow, it's not ideal. :)

Thanks for your replies, everyone :T

Just wanted to post an update: we parked at Parkway Friday night to Sunday night, which cost us £6.90 and was absolutely fine. We parked as close to the station building as possible, so thanks to everyone for that tip. :)

And thanks to shazzer22: our flights were on time! :D
