I realise that this may not be as useful as it might have been a few days ago, but it is worth bearing in mind for the future for anyone planning to use Southampton airport.
The BAA airport parking charges are about £6 per day, and when going away, for example for the easter bank holiday weekend, that could mean charges of £24-£30.
A simple alternative is to park in the airport parkway station car park which is just next door (If you have a lot of luggage then drop it off first and then park) and walk the 1 minute walk to the terminal. It's closer than the airport car park, and then best bit is its free!!! no charges for sats, suns, and bank holidays.
Result - I just parked my car there for 4 days free of charge! - more money to spend on holiday!! Even if you're not going to a bank holiday, it would be worth it for a weekend trip by buying a ticket for just the friday or monday if you had to pay for parking (same price as airport - £6 per day but no charge for sat/sun)
Worth bearing in mind that for a week trip, although not so muc is relatively saved, two day's charges can be knocked off what you would have paid by parking in the station next door!
I hope this helps someone in the future :-)
