Hi,

My girlfriend lost her mobile phone on saturday night, we've checked everywhere but no luck in finding it.

It was a PAYG on Orange.

She's going to cancel it today but is there anything else she needs to do?

I'm looking to get here a new one now, does anyone know who are the best for PAYG?

Thanks

Have you tried ringing its number?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Yes, rang it loads of times but it goes straight to voicemail.

The battery was quite low prior to here losing it.

is it insured, id ring your network and tell them that its lost, they will block the number so if its found no one can use it

Couldn't you quickly buy a new Orange PAYG phone and SIM, then call Orange saying that you wish to upgrade (using the 0800 number given in the booklet from a landline).

They should then be able to transfer the original number and remaining credit (if it hasn't been used up by someone who has found the original phone) to the new SIM. No need to tell them that it's been lost.

The original SIM will then become invalid and can't be used.

The phone needs to be blocked too though unless you don't mind someone finding it and using it with another sim.

If it is only pay and go you have don't need to worry as much as if it had been a contract.

My son is always losing his (Careless idiot) and as they are pay and go we just get another one off ebay for buttons.

    Bushboy:

You can upgrade PAYG phones too with Orange. All you do is but a new handset and SIM and then contact Orange so that they transfer your details, phone number and remaining credit onto the new SIM card. The old SIM which is in the lost phone then becomes invalid and can't be used (the phone will display a message like "Please Insert SIM" when turned on). However, although the lost phone could still be used in the future with a new SIM card registered to a different user, any personal details stored in the phone's memory would be accessible.

Orange also usually give you £1 for advising them of your 'upgrade'.
