Our Posties are brilliant here..they have the choice of posting in our box at the front of property because the place is up hill from the road..pheww...but if its a parcel bigger than the box they always ring the bell and leave on the door step unless of course it is recorded then they wait until one of us falls out of Bed....for a signature..cant fault them....likewise the dustmen who take all the junkmail and just about anything we throw there way....

Our postie is pretty good and they have all been good where ever we have lived, ove the last two years we have aquired two dogs, one of which hates the postie, in our old house the postie would not come to the house due to dog chaseing his up the road and having been bitten by one before our dog did this he didnt want to chance it so he asked if he could leave the post in our garden under a stone we agreed as not fair to postie, i would suggest talking to postie before writing letter as they are only human and probably dont want to be bitten :)

Do they leave the post on others door steps..
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

no he puts it through the letter box or if needed, knocks and waits very patiently while we stumble out of bed and into the bedside table

While my postie doesn't leave parcels on the doorstep (not a wise idea when you live on a busy street where the terraces open directly on the pavement)... he does tend to just put a card through the door without knocking for anything that doesn't fit or needs signed for. Wouldn't care so much but I'm always in in the mornings (work lates) and sleep light when I know I'm expecting something... not only that but if he actually knocked then the dog next door would bark (well behaved dog who only barks when someone is hanging around at the front door waiting for an answer).

Last week I was annoyed with the postie - got a card through the door at 9 (was in as usual) and can usually pick them up from 12 from the collection centre just 5 mins away - they only put down I could collect it the following day! Grr! Was not impressed but tried to collect it same day anyway... got it with about half hour to spare in the collection time window but just annoyed as it was a wasted journey - he only had to knock!

The kind of service the OP mentions is the kind I've had from every postie we've had in the last two years.
    1) Never *ever* ask for a signature for a recorded delivery item. They just shove it through the postbox. Or if it's too big.....

    2) .. it gets left on the doorstep. Every parcel that won't fit through gets dumped on the doorstep, regardless if it's raining, or if we're in or not.

    3) Dumps his rubber bands from the post on our drive. This may seem like a minor thing but it annoys me no end when the sod just chucks them on our property instead of sticking them in his pocket to keep till he finds a bin.

 do you have the same postman as me?
