Post left on my door mat!

I'm still SO angry at this!

Yesterday morning I came home and my neighbour told me that when he came out of his flat our mail was on our doormat!

I have two dogs, and one does bark when someone comes to the door, but I don't see how that what stop him from launching my very normal sized letters through the box! (it wasn't our usual top quality postie).

We live in an unsecured block of flats - there are umpteen people passing through and posting takeaway leaflets etc so anyone couldhave helped themselves....oh...and one of the letters was the pin to access my online credit information!!

I will be penning a suitably grumpy letter which no doubt RM will ignore....

We have a nice postman who leaves stuff outside the front door if it's too big too post. He knows we're in cos the car's there but if the curtains are closed he won't disturb us...

Well i used to have a little dog that used to go bananas when anyone put anything through my door,so for the peace of mind of the postman,i put a letter cage on the letterbox.I would not like that job!

He was probably one of many 'posties' who had been on the receiving end of having put things through a letter box with a dog on the other side. Before you start 'penning a suitably grumpy letter', I would suggest you either consider what you would do in the circumstances or do as has been suggested and put a letter cage on the letter box. Don't know about you but I'd be keen to keep my fingers ..... same as the 'postie'.
It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!

This is probably the biggest fault with both our dogs ... they go absolutely bananas at the postman ... no matter what we have tried they continue to do it. They actually attack the letters and I usually get bank statements etc. with big teeth marks in them. The postman is decent and apologises (not that it is his fault .. its ours) but he says he got badly reprimanded because he left a parcel on somebodies doorstap once and it went missing so he insists on putting everything through the door.

The kind of service the OP mentions is the kind I've had from every postie we've had in the last two years.
    1) Never *ever* ask for a signature for a recorded delivery item. They just shove it through the postbox. Or if it's too big.....

    2) .. it gets left on the doorstep. Every parcel that won't fit through gets dumped on the doorstep, regardless if it's raining, or if we're in or not.

    3) Dumps his rubber bands from the post on our drive. This may seem like a minor thing but it annoys me no end when the sod just chucks them on our property instead of sticking them in his pocket to keep till he finds a bin.

I find it difficult to believe every single postie youve had has been as bad as you say, if so you must be very unlucky.
A wee idea to all you people who have a grievance with your postie, why not actually speak to him and tell him of any complaints, i'm sure he's only too willing to help or at least i would be. It may be he thinks he's doing you a favour.

But there's no way either of my dogs could get their snouts out of the letterbox, and I've tried myself, I can post a letter with my fingers six inches away from the letterbox!

We tried the cage (incidentally my dogs are not bothered by the letters...I guess if they were coated in gravy that would be a different matter!) but if you have anything like a magazine or book posted the postie has to force it through, the cage flies open and bops the dogs on the head :( On the other hand maybe that would keep them away from the letterbox!!
