IvanOpinion wrote:I have been recommending external hard drives for a few years now and they just keep getting better and better value for money. If you keep all your data on the external hard disk then it does not matter if and when you buy a new computer .. no need for all this copying, ghosting etc. In general the speed difference between a good USB2 drive and an internal drive is not that much.
PC World currently have a 320Gb USB2 drive for under £100 see here and it is available as collect@store (so you can pick it up on the way home).

Would this pcworld drive work with usb 1.1?
Please, just a yes or no from someone!
Thanks!
I also have a router with a spare ethernet space - would it be possible to connect the hard drive up to that, or stright into the ethernet port of my laptop? Or is that just a ridiculous idea that anyone in their right mind would never ask? In which case, I never asked it.0 -
