P.S Isn't mushy peas and vinegar a Nottingham thing? I'm sure I saw them sold at the Goose Fair. (Yuck!)0

I'm Scottish. I'm not sure how common it was there, but my family all loved it.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

My mum used to make us 'egg in a cup' which was basically chopped up boiled egg and butter in a mug. And home made mushy peas in a cup with vinegar. I still love that.0 -

Depends on how active the children are.
Assuming a fairly normal level of outdoor activities then they probably should have snacks. My youngest who is currently five is learning about good eating at school and is only allowed "healthy snacks". She sometimes asks "are you sure that is healthy?"
If she is having biscuits or slightly unhealthier snacks she knows "two is the limit".
But she does eat like a horse and is hungry when she comes home from school (teenagers only get worse) but then again she does have a very active life:-
She cycles to school everyday and has the following activities
Monday:- Rainbows
Tuesday:- Pony Club or Hockey
Wednesday:- Dancing
Thursday:- After school activities (football, rounders etc)
Friday:- Nothing
Saturday:- Swimming and Riding or Beating/Picking Up with the dog on the shoot in the afternoon
Sunday:- Rugby (her brother is at London Wasps so she has to play in her view ) and/or Riding0 -
I forgot about egg in a cup - my son won't eat it, but I love it
Nanny used to give it me, with bread and proper butter.
