They seemed to imply that young girls react that way because its a new pain. Im almost the same age as her! lol.

He seems really distressed, but she's just had an epidural i think so no more screaming :D

How early did anyone start buying stuff for their baby?

We started really buying stuff around 16 weeks (no coincidence though that it coincided with the January sales!). We bought our nursery set then and it has been flat packed in the house ever since. Bought the travel system at the same time, had it delivered a couple of weeks later (we're lucky we can store things at my parents')

I didn't start buying clothes until I knew what we were having after the 20 week scan. That was about 2 weeks ago and I have to admit I've gone a bit mad (got almost everything he'll need, clothes wise, from birth to about 3 months, plus some bits and pieces for later). I purposefully decided to start buying early as I'm able to budget for it now. I want to make sure I've a good supply of clothes to get him from June to Christmas as I will be on a lower wage about half way through that period and won't have the same money spare.

my parents have also been helpful and spoilt their first grandson - we have a monitor/mobile/changing mat and some blankets from them. So I suppose, at almost 23 weeks, we're just about sorted other than clothes!

Also though, I'm a bit freakishly organised (if something worries me/seems huge, I start organising so it can't be scary any more!) and plan to have the nursery (painted and furniture made up) done over the next week. This I have to say is partially so that we get our house back - there's baby stuff everywhere!

    Evening all,
I think I give up trying to sleep at night, it's just so uncomfy and I don't even have much of a bump yet! Tried sleeping with a pillow between my legs but I turn over too much so it just gets in the way. I just crave sleeping on my back! arrghhhh.

This might be near enough impossible to describe online but I've found it really helpful.

The antenatal physio I saw suggested that, to help be comfy on your side, if you get a pillow (old feather ones are good if you don't have allergies) and squeeze the stuffing out of the middle, towards the edges (think flat in the middle with two puffy cushions each side). Then you put that on the bed, horizontally, around where your waist will be. You lie on the flat bit and the cushioning at the edges of the pillow will support your bump and back and prevent you from rolling onto your back. I've found that it means I can also lie slightly tilted backwards if that's comfier and still stay on my side.

She also said that if you want to use something between your legs to take pressure off your hips, if you only put it from your knees to your toes (the length of my legs means that's about the length of a normal pillow) it's better for your pelvis. I also tend to find that I can turn over in the night without moving the pillow if I lift my legs enough off the bed.

I've been using both of the above and I've found my sleep has been much, much better. I hope it makes sense, might help someone. I should add, she said that you shouldn't feel too guilty about ending up on your back anyway - you don't know how many times you end up there during the night without knowing and by the time it's most important that you lie on your side, baby will give you a good kick to let you know that he or she is unhappy with your position!

ym apparently you can sleep on your back you just need to prop yourself up slightly on one side to relieve pressure on a certain area cant remember which at the moment. I will try a google and see what i come up with i know it was mentioned on an old pregnancy thread last year :-)

I must admit I've been using a pillow and putting it down one side of my back so I'm at a slight angle if that makes sense, wasn't sure if that was still too much like laying on my back though.

I found it you need to put a pillow under your bum on the right hand side this tilts your uterus to the left and relieves pressure on the artery that leads to your heart :-)

Edit: i also found that laying on your back can encourage baby to lie face up so they are back to back which isnt good. I would try and lay on your side for some of the night but get some good sleep on your back if its the only way that comfy

I haven't bought anything yet! Got our 20 week scan on Monday (YAY), which is kind of my personal 'start' date for buying things. OH doesn't really want to start getting the big stuff in until April (no idea why April though) which is fair enough, cos we need to empty our spare room first before bubs furniture can go in. Not that I haven't been mooning over tiny socks since the day after I found though.....:o

I always ended up laying on my back in the night, i always rolled over in my sleep. But now the baby is heavier when i roll onto my back i know it! lol.
Also its harder to turn as bump weighs me down to my left side more :D

Cant believe its almost 9pm already, might have some cereal soon. All i've had today is a KFC lol.
