Um.....anybody got any comments/thoughts about MK hospital? :huh:Am due to give birth there in the next five weeks (if bubs is on time!) and am now very worried about it's condition. I've heard loads of stories about it and now this new thing that was in the news and splashed all over the local papers! What are my options please? :think:I'm not even allowed to look around the place before the birth. Is it worth me doing a birth plan as they may not even have enough staff to look at it!

Hi Guinea, I am in the same situ with MK hosp. I had my last 3 there which was fine but the last one was 6 yrs ago and from what I hear things are getting increasingly worse.
My friend gave birth there 12 days ago and confirmed things weren't good. She said a lot of equip was either not available or broken and there weren't many available staff.
The latest report in Citizen 1st which said the PCT were reccomennding mums go to either Northampton,Bedford or Stoke Mandeville is all well and good but my last labour was appx 40 mins which is how long it takes to get to any of those (on a good day!).
I am considering now a HB which initially I wasn't too happy with cos I have 3 other kids and also although I had 3 normal births and pg's my last dd's heart rate was dropping during contractions and they had to use a scalp monitor thing on her whilst she was birthing and she was born with the cord round her neck. My MW insists this has no reflection on what will happen this time and was trying to push a HB but since finding out this baby has a dilated kidney at 20 w scan,I don't know how that may change things (I haven't had a mw apt since 16 w and my next one is at 28 w which is 2 w time).
It is quite disheartening to hear even the professionals are suggesting we should go to another hosp to give birth and really makes you wonder how bad things can be at MK:eek:
I really don't fancy giving birth on the A421:rolleyes:

    Hello!
Thanks for al the b'day messages :)
Just had a major catch up, i haven't been on in two days and there's alot! lol.

SJ about the hair below belly button, I had not heard that before, but I have suddenly grown hair there, its just blonde fuzzy stuff and I am having a boy :) so maybe thats right? I am hoping it goes away once baby is born lol

I have some hair there that has grown, and im having a girl... :p
My sister told me off for shaving it though cause it grows back thicker lol.

Is it me or have the smileys order been moved around... and i cant find the confused one! :rotfl:

Som- Wow!!! I love the pink superman baby grows! I might buy one in each size... :D
Then she'll match her new pink superman blanket :D
As far as I'm aware they'll give babe a clean up first if that's what you ask for. The main point is once you've got that skin to skin contact is to keep it that way for at least 45minutes to get the benefit. So you can ask them to do all the things they need to do first ie clean up, weight, checks etc so they don't interupt your skin to skin time. It's important to me to have it in my birth plan as have told OH that if anything goes wrong he'll have to step in and shove the baby girl up his t-shirt :rotfl:

Right bed for me. After all the hype caved and bought the twilight series of books last week and I'm onto the 3rd one already :o. EA and Kindof - you have a lot to answer for :rotfl:
Just had visons of a MW coming in and asking where baby is and you pointing to a small lump in your DH's t-shirt :rotfl:

And Twilight is fab! Justwait until you start re-reading them :p

    Congrats meltdown point!! :)

Kindof - I had a horribly itchy bump a few days ago, scratching it didn't help either. So i put loads of cold baby lotion on and slowly rubbed it in. The coldness helped as it cooled it and the cream seemed to help to :)

I had a really itchy finger last night lol. I was biting it after a while cause it was driving me crazy!

Everyone thinks my bump has dropped! It was pretty much under my boobs and now OH thinks there is a gap. So im going to take a pic later to compare :D

me too , guinea , i am really considering home birth now , i am worried sick to the end about going into mk general even though i have had 3 other children born there, the hospital is also telling people to go to bedford , northampton , and even stoke mandeville , i think your best bet is to talk to your MW, when i see my MW next week will also ask about bedford hospital as its 20 mins drive ona clear day , i amd ue 4 days after you , we may be there same time :P

OH thinks the baby is going to come before 40 weeks, so i have to make sure everything is done just incase! lol.

Might make a start on my birth plan and also ask IL's if they have washed the bag they are lending me so i can put everything away :D

I dont have itchy spots no, its just general horrible itching. Maybe go into boots and ask them what you can take/put on it?
  • Morning all!
Waiting for the hospital to ring to say my anti-d injection is ready for me. Have no idea when that will be though and I hate waiting for anything! Hope its soon though as I've got to see my grandparents after lunch to tell them about me being pregnant :D
  • Yes the Nikki the A421 is a night mare at the best of times but all the road works on the bypass atm-it doesn't bare thinking about.
I'm actually a lil bit angry that we would even have to go to another hosp-it's insane when we're so close to our local one grrs.

Oooh Kindof sounds really sore. Hope you can find something to soothe it.

Hope the scan's going well CAFC is it still team blue???
