Hi all,
Congrats to all the newbies and BIG congrats to all the new babies that were born last week:j
Grrs, just wrote an uber long post and somehow managed to lose it!
Just wanted to say I agree that mat bras are yukky/uncomfy BUT also without meaning to scare anyone just wanted to say that I wouldn't want the same thing to happen to anyone else that happened to my friend. She carried on wearing her pre-preg u/w bras during her 2nd pg and when her chest and uterus expanded they actually damaged her developing milk ducts and supply and she had to have an op when her dd was born as her breast became infected. She still suffers with sharp pains in her breast and her dd is 6! Obv she wasn't able to breastfeed either. I had no idea about this until she confided in me cos i'd recently commented that i was still wearing my normal bras (as I didn't know her when she had her dd) Needles to say I went straight to get some mat bras!
Yes her bras were probably too tight personally it really isn't worth the risk especially when seeing as it's winter and i'm all togged up in jumpers and cardies the pertness of my boobies isn't as obvious:p
Saying that though, I got some really lovely ones from mothercare which were padded ( not in the make them look bigger sense) which helps give my DD/E's the support they need:T
Hope that helps someone, I know it's the extreme but just worth a thought esp when it's only a temporary measure not a permanant one.Busy mummy of 4.:j0 -
hmm that's what I feared about maternity bras - I really am tempted to stay in underwires - shall see when I go shopping (what a shame bravissimo don't do maternity clothes too)
Just had my 17 week check with the MW and heard the heartbeat for the first time - so of course, now I want a doppler so I can play all the time! Sounds like a train - will see in a few weeks if the old wives are right with their tales. Everything is fine (except the lack of rubella immunity). Oh I'm all excited and happy teary now
hope everyone is well0 -
Do you really need maternity bras then?0
-
Maternity bras are recommended, but I would think the main point is having a bra that fits well. If you have gone up a couple of sizes and your old bras pinch your boobs, leave red marks or are uncomfy then that can't be good for you.
I am finding now that my bump is so high that there' sno flat bit under my boobs now, it just goes boobs then bump IYSWIM?! So I'm actually going without a bra all the time at home as I was feeling bruised under my boobs and the bras were making it worse. Got a bra extender for my mat bras which helps but I'm still more comfy with a tight-ish vest top on then whatever clothes. I'm not massive but have gone from a pre-pg C cup to a DD
I'm still waiting for MW. Not really sure why they can't ring round the day's appointments in the morning to give an idea of what time they'll come. I would be annoyed if I wanted to go out.0 -

Afternoon,
Seriously hating this no internet thing, every time I can on I've about a million pages to try & catch up on, then run out of time and can't reply!! Roll on Saturday
Re: the eggs debate, I was told the same as Nikkit by a family friend who's a midwife/health visitor, so long as they're red lion stampedI only like them with a runny yoke, so I've had them
& raw in cheesecake too, but there again I'm rubbish at following guidelines!!
Boo to cancelled ante natal SomIs it still really bad weather wise where you are? Bargain on the nightie, shame they didn't have more! Might go for a wonder around ours see if I can find any...
It's tough deciding how to spend on baby isn't it Twinkles? I felt the same, like I wanted lovely expensive things but couldn't justify it...
Lol the sieve bra comment tickled me, what a bizarre comparison choice!!
My god kindof, 10 times to pee in one night? Think I'd have tried sleeping in the bath, save the walk!!
Haha Redstar - maternity wear really isn't sexy is it?! Your pants sounds delightful :P
Three hope you're having a better day today, xx
Tink I'd go to the appointment on Sat with DD if I were you, it really seems like it would help to put your mind at rest. DH can look at the pics
Woohoo for nursery furniture SJ
Re: mat bras, I've not bothered getting any, though have bought a couple of bras in bigger sizes. Will get some nursing ones once he's here, make sure I can breastfeed first...I just can't bear to go without underwire, I'm not massive but big enough to feel uncomfortable without it. Have taken to wearing sports bras at home though, tres chic
Thanks for thoughts on the dress ladiesI went to the other Monsoon & no joy there, so got them to look and see if there were any locally and they said no
Boo, but nevermind...sure I'll find something else I like equally...
Had a nightmare couple of days, one of my teeth started playing up and turned into full blown pain yesterday so not slept for a couple of nightsWent to the dentist today who told me off for not going for my last check up (I hate it!), then told me I needed a root filling and a new crown
On the bright side, it's a fancy dentist with a TV to watch while work's done, so I got to watch Glee while he drilled away!! Also, got the HIPG through today
Popped into Sainsburys earlier too and got a couple of pairs of trousers for baby, they were reduced already but the extra 1/3 off made them just over £2.50 each, bargain!
Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
GF I'd be lost without the internet!! Why has yours been off? Not sure whether you haven't said, or whether I just forgot
. How is your elbow? Do you have a cast on, if so when do you get it taken off?
Just decided I'm going to do some batch cooking soon. Need to decide what I want to make though and plan my shop. I'm thinking of making chilli, bolognaise, shepherd's pie and soup. What else is good to make and freeze??0 -
im so tempted to buy a doppler.....
How much was yours Gill?
About £22 off ebay on a buy it now but pretty sure it was cheaper on Amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Angelsounds-JPD-100S-Fetal-Doppler/dp/B000XS987A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby&qid=1263482642&sr=8-1
Prob worth checking both to see which is best deal. It was well worth it, I've used it loads and it's brilliant for putting my mind at ease if I'm not feeling movement or having pains or anything. You just need lubricant jelly (mine's by galpharm) from the £1 shop to use as gel.Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
It's off because I signed up with Tiscali and got cut off by o2, but Tiscali are pants and aren't coming to fit til Saturday - it's been off since December 21st! They said they're send a router so I could set it up myself but never did, grrr.
Elbow's okDidn't have a cast just a sling, apparently a cast wouldn't have helped?! I drove the other night as my brother got stuck and there were no buses, and OH had been drinking, and it was ok with him doing the handbrake and gears for me, so think I'll be back driving properly soon
I freeze curry & lasagne, also fishcakes - they all freeze okBaby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
SS this is baby number 3 for me and I'm bricking it about the labor, First was an eC/S never got to have a labor, second i slept threw most of the contractions and woke with them at only a few minutes apart, so this time I'm majorly paranoid that i wont realize I'm in labor lol Plus the thought of the labor with no pain relief is frightening,
Don't worry about the bubbling hormones are everywhere when you are PG, things that had little/no effect on me pre PG have had me in floods lol Very attractive at times:rotfl:
