Som, I think you're planning a HB anyway, but just to ALL ladies - I would DEFFO recommend picking up a cheapie shower curtain/whatever or 2. One of the main things I hated about my labour was after my waters went, they continued to leak quite badly (as in, pads would overflow instantly if there was a gush), so I was rather confined to the bathroom which I found insanely uncomfortable. If I had had something to put down on the bed/floor, I could've moved around a lot more and found different positions to labour in.

Aless - am not planning a home birth atm as I dont think with our house being so tiny and having a large dog it would be the best place, besides it makes OH nervous hehe. Anyhoo, have to confess it was reading your birth story that really made me think about the water proofing. I'd like to labour at home for as long as poss, just because of the comfort factor and the fact we have a dog I don't want him left alone for too long. I know OH wont leave my side once in hospital and we have no one else to care for furr ball. Besides our hospital is only 10 min away so can afford to leave it till late. Will keep an eye out for a cheap shower cutains too as well as bed protector and disposable mats, that way like you said can try out different positions.

PP - sorry your uncomfy x

Kindof - I love board games we havent played any in ages, but think thats due to the lack of a table in the house atm. Have fun back at Toys r us again :D

Well not much going on here, vegging in front of the TV atm watching Demolition Man. Failed to get the decs down yesterday but hope to have it done by end of today. Need to put away the larger size baby clothes too and take my old clothes to the charity collection point.

  • Afternoon all,

I am hoping that you lovely ladies can help me, I am 26 weeks pregnant with my second child and have a midwifes appointment on Monday. I have no idea what they should be doing.

Prior to this I have had a lovely community midwife who was coming to my home and spent ages here discussing anything I needed too. She has now retired so I have been referred back to the midwife at the drs, which I'm not impressed about, they did a good job of trying to kill me during my first pregnancy!! Not writing a drugs allergy on my notes or any of my asthma meds!!!!

So any way on Mondays visit will she listen to the heartbeat, tell me which way the baby is lying, discuss the size of the baby, labour options as I had epidural last time but it slowed the labour and put my DS in danger!!

I think this week she should also do the healthly eating grant thing? It didn;t exist when I was pregnant with my first!!

Will she do my mat B 1 form, will she sign my sure start grant application form?

Also does any have a rocking crib/cradle I really wanted one for my DS but couldn;t afford one, I now can so does anyone have any recommendations?

    Thanks

    Butterfly xx

32b - was me asking about matress waterproofing, wish we had a pound shop that sold things like that. Was looking on amazon earlier and found a double matress protector thats water proof too, was less than £10 inc p&p so think I'll order that as it can stay on the bed after incase of future accidents! Might get some of the disposables too for the car and sofa better safe than sorry.

I got 2 smart price shower curtains from Asda for either £1 or £2 each - pg brain can't remember exactly how much!

jonno, it's likely too late but you know you don't HAVE to go into the hospital...NICE guidelines are actually 96 hrs for waters going, but NHS tends to do 24 hrs. Anyway, you always have a choice and they can't make you do anything.

That's really interesting! I am planning HB so will definitely remember that in case my waters go first. Thanks Aless. Hope your library visit isn't too scary! ;)

    Yey for HiPG EA

10 inches of snow Kindof! Wow! We haven't got any in Leeds.

Delivered my last wedding cake this morning til after baby is here! Nice break now til May. Really wore me out stood up baking for 3 hours yesterday. At least I can do the decorating sat down but glad I don't have any more to do now for a while.

Had my sister over last night and played Buzz and her and DH had a few drinks. Was a good night but I had to leave them to it at 12.30 as I was knackered.

Just deciding what to eat now, I'm starving yet again but can't decide what I want (plus I can't be bothered to get up and get anything!)
  • iv got a real hankering/craving for bakery, goods, especially blueberry muffins YUM YUM YUM oh and real craving good breakfast pancakes but it means making them and i just cant fathom the energy..

I really need to start doing more, ive mostly sat on my backside since finding out bcause I was so sick, but now my sleeping pattern is all disurpted and im just being lazy....

Am going to clear out my own wardrobe today, for things that dont fit (even pre bump) and things that i know i wont fit post baby, and then of course the things that should never see the light of day again.

    Aww hugs PP and EA

What strength are your co-codamol PP as the cramps come through my 8/500 and i was considering asking for stronger ones

Anyone heard from GemmaE (on here or facebook?)

I am still here - just crampy with high bp - getting a bit fed up of mw visiting - but we need them so i am grateful. Delighted with some lovely movements from baby orit today as they have been worrying about her heart rate / movements so it was great she stuck her bum out for the mw to feel - lol
  • we've just opened the curtains to see a massive snow storm/blizzard outside.... ive never seen anything like it!!!

DH is now throwing a fit at me because im saying i dont want to go out in it, and he wants to buy a load of cr&p food. im desperately trying to save money on food, offering suggestions and he just keeps telling me he doesnt like it/doesnt eat that...

GOD ITS LIKE IVE GOT A 4 YEAR OLD TODDLER ALREADY!!!

well butterfly , at my 25 week appointment , we never discussed anything to do with birth etc, she took blood , gave me matb1 form , hipg form , the healthy start leaflet , (i'm not entitled too as you have to be on low income i.e income support jsa etc), and that was it really , next appointment for me was at 28 weeks as anti -d injection needed , my next one is now at 34 weeks for anti-d injection , yet again

    good luck though

no crib / cradle for me i have just moses basket , and then straight into cot / cotbed , i did have crib with my other 3 , and no moses basket , but cannot afford one this time around, im sure some ladies on here can recommend , or pop over to the parent thread HERE and ask there ,

also butterfly what is your EDD we can add you to the ever increasing EDD list :)
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec

    Hello

Hope everyone is ok? Thanks for the quick healing elbow vibes :D I can't wait til it's fixed, driving me mad having to rely on people to get out of the house, I neeeed to be able to drive again!

Lots of labour vibes PP, hope it turns into the real thing quickly for you :)

& lots of labour vibes for JHA too, come on Orit!

& labour vibes for anyone else who'd like them, get :j! & of course a very Happy New Year to everyone - hope it's a wonderful one for all.

Nothing much exciting happened over NY here, had the quietest one ever with a few drinks with neighbours and some fireworks outside the house. I was in bed flat out by half 12 :D it's the first new year I've ever 'stayed in', very weird! Nice to feel normal on new years day though, even managed to drag OH out of the house shopping for the day!! Picked up some gorgeous baby clothes in Gap & Mamas & Papas with Christmas vouchers :j then went out for dinner last night with some friends, very nice day all in all :)

I'm really starting to feel like a whale now, have finally outgrown my normal jeans & had to start wearing my maternity ones, boo hoo :( Got a christening to go to in a few weeks & no idea what to wear, very reluctant to buy something maternity as I'll never wear it again

ooh before I forget, I've a Q- I've switched hospitals & been sent an appointment to see the Dr @ the antenatal outpatients clinic this week, is this normal? I wasn't sure it was as OH has a friend who's wife changed hospitals & she said she never saw anyone
    Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j

Ah, I remember now that I got you mixed up with Sarah Joanne having a HB, sorry! :o

butterfly - it's too early to feel for baby's position, I think. I think at my 26 wk appt it was the usual pee test and BP. Don't think I was even measured at that point...you'll get your MATB1 and the HiPG form, too.

Library was mostly successful! He started fussing quite a bit towards the end, so we made a quick exit, but think he just needs to get used to the pram, etc.

I'm on this strength for my SPD and my doc was reluctant to even prescribe these. He said they can cause baby breathing problems when taken in late pregnancy and my physio confirmed she wouldn't be happy giving me anything stronger so close to my due date. She did give me a tens machine though. HTH

I'm 36 weeks on Tuesday and no BH yet (as far as I know :o), anyone else? I feel left out :o

Good call on the shower curtains Aless, I'd like to stay at home as long as poss so will get some next time I go to Asda

Hey gym :hello: Can't believe what you did to your elbow  Poor you, hope it's feeling a little better. What size are you normally?

We've had snow on and off all day. I love snow :D
