Courgette - Is there any way he can find out and just not tell you? LOL That would never work in my house, I can handle DH knowing something I dont know LOL But some couples do it..... Maybe if you wanna give him more elements of the pregnancy, you could let him pick the names, for boy and for girl....

Fishcake - Congrats on baby Anya.... love the name!!!!Sounds a lovely size too xx

DH has started getting a bit better with me in pregnancy. I think he was really worried about me yesterday. We went to Morrissons and I was getting BH the whole time, had to lean against things, came home and had what I can only describe as similar cramps to when I had m/c, but I told him they felt like period cramps, and then I fell asleep on and off for 2 hours on the sofa, but he said he could see on my face how much pain I was in.... so he didnt move for 2 hours, and was just watching me, and trying to find the midwifes number in my notes.... god love him. I woke up and felt a bit better but in a way (and this sounds really selfish) I was kinda glad that he was worried, because hes such a non committal, non emotional person, and it was one of those rare occassions where I get to see how he feels because he doesnt verbalise.....
And hes been texting me today to tell me not to do anything, like the washing etc and he'll do it when he comes in..... Bless him xx

Smartie - sorry to hear about your neighbours being a pain. Not quite as bad, but my next door and upstairs neighbours have both had loud music on since 9am this morning, and i can hear two totally different basslines. Driving me mad coz it's a lovely day and i can't even open my windows or it gets louder. Never mind - i'll soon be getting my own back on them when the baby cries at 2am, 4am, 5am etc..!:A

    Congratulations to Fishcake and family!:j

Courgette - My OH definitely wanted to know the sex of the baby, and i was already convinced it was a boy, so didn't mind finding out. If you agree that your other half can find out, but mustn't tell you, then maybe you should agree before hand that you'll refer to the baby as He (or She) beforehand, regardless of what he finds out at the scan, so there are no slipups? Hmm, that might be a totally rubbish idea actually!:rotfl:

What a lovely, sunny day (in Chelmsford, at least). Long may it last!!!

  • After my waters broke tuesday nothing had happened so they took me into QAH in Portsmouth and tried to induce me. I had 27 hours, 2x 6hour pesserys which gave me some horrible cramps and pains(worse than contraction pains!!) and 15 hours on the syntocin (sp?) drip. At the end of all that I was one whole centimetre dialated so I was offered to continue 6 hours as baby was still happy, or a c-section. I decided on a section as I was so angry wth myself for not being in labour, and tired of all that work for nothing all though I impressed the midwife with coping on just gas and air the whole way through.
Because it was urgent and not an emergancy the c-section took almost and hour and a half because they could take there time being gentle and make my recovery slightly easier. Once I was moved to the maternity ward with some other sectioned ladies I am aware of how brutal they can be, some woman were barely out of bed 4-5 days later and I was sat in a chair after 5 hours and walking in 12. Allthough don't get me wrong I still need some painkillers!!!!
All in all completely NOT my birthplan and I ended up doing everything I said I never would and never could do, but I would do it all again in a heartbeat for my baby.
The surgeons even said there is no medical reason I couldnt have a healthy natural birth next time and it was only the prematurity that things happen this way.

Thanks Gilby and Gena, it's good to know I'm not the only one who gets like that - though it sucks that you girls feel the same.

Gym, that's one stubborn little babba you have there. Hope they have a bed for you - if not, stage a sit in!

Sir Monster, I'm totally the same with the not feeling 'pregnant' thing. I never had a single symptom, aside from my boobs going up a couple of sizes. It's only now that I can feel bubs squirming, and not being able to do things at my normal pace (something I'm learning new limits all the time), that I actually realise 'oh, I'm having a baby'. You will start to feel it, but deffo enjoy being 'normal' whilst it lasts. I went for a walk with OH this morning and nearly fainted twice, poor man was so upset he was actually going to run all the way back to the car so I didn't have to walk back.

Duh, totally forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS FISHCAKE! What a pretty name, and pleased that you're not suffering too much after the section. Even though the birth didn't go to plan, it sounds like you managed to retain some control throughout events.

Congratulations Fishcake! Sounds like you are on cloud 9 with your little girl :)

Courgette I was the same as Cafcgirl, I just had to be told what I was having because I was 100% certain it would be a girl and I just needed to have that confirmed lol. I think anyone who has the willpower to not find out is just fantastic, I could never do it! ;)
