  • I don't think anyone saw my post a couple million pages back :D

Why do people want the cord to keep pulsing after the baby is born? What are the benefits?
So that baby gets all the nutrients from it, it's been feeding off the cord for 9monthsso a couple of extra minutes for the last drips of the good stuff is nothing:) heres a link admittedly thats the daily mail and some stuff can be taken with a pinch of salt but if you google it theres loads of info:) I know I've not been here long but lurking for months has certainyl paid off:o;)

Nene from what i have read it appears that after baby is born the placenta is still working away to make sure that baby has everything he needs there are important stem cells which are transfered to the baby even after birth so leaving the cord means that they get all of these and the baby is not forced to breath so quickly meaning it is less stressful for him/her when born they will still breath of their own accord normally as soon as air hits their faces but leaving the cord makes it all much less traumatic. Also it is said to help with the expulsion of the placenta itself as your body will realise that the placenta is no longer needed.

Kindof - my appt was with the doc and just a very quick check up to make sure I was ok after the urine thing last week. I have my doc again at 40 weeks, but MW already booked me in for when am 41+1 to have a sweep and am guessing if she still isnt here by then (prays its not the case) then I'll be booked for induction, I think they do it at 12 days over here. Still hoping that the dream I had she arrived on the 1st March is true or she can even come this weekend :D

Watched Underworld:Rise of the Lycans while Ironing sitting down. Have gotten a good amount done but am taking it easy. Just reserved OH an 8gb ipod touch, he has saved all his birthday money and really wants one so as I only spent a tiny amount on him for his birthday and am up £50 this month I said I would make it his last treat before bubs :D So off to collect that shortley then gonna tackle the friday night tesco madness! Am gonna be shattered!

Pains have gone down alot now, and only really appear when i walk. So im going to have some food and walk about :D lol

Forgot to say, we heard babys hiccups on the doppler earlier when MW was trying to get her heartbeat, was soooo cute :D
And the MW approved of my birth plan and said she likes how i've made it into sections for easier reading lol. *feels like a smug teachers pet*

And i found out, we only have to be 3cm dilated to get in pool :D

    Afternoon ladies

Thanks for being lovely, had a much better day today. I even plucked up the courage to tell the headmaster I'm pg, turned out 'a little bird' had already told him! But glad that's over and done with.

Nene in some cultures they don't cut the cord at all, they just carry the placenta around with the baby until it withers and drops off and few days later. Some cultures mum eats it. My friend's mum buried hers on the allotment. Takes all sorts doesn't it :rotfl:

One of my year 11s is pregnant and she kept having a sneaky peak of her purple book in lesson and some of the other girls were talking to her about it all. Was the best I could do to carry on teaching and not pull up a chair and talk babies for an hour :rotfl::rotfl:

Nikkit Thomas is lovely, aren't new born babies the cutest thing :A

EA good luck if this is you gearing up. When I was about to have my DS I was on the loo constantly, erm 'getting rid' of every little thing in my bowel including the biscuit I'd just eaten. Just thought I'd share :rotfl:

Should I be this excited? I've just attempted the walk in the forest again (the lookout at swinley forest), as sorry but the weather here today, apart from the wind, is perfect. Tried to get to the set of harry potter filming, easily found by the huge amount of cars and trucks going there and back. But it was just too far to walk for my tummy and little Joseph. Although on the way out we were treated to the lovely sight of death eaters - scary men in makeup, black cloaks and wands on their belts. They must have finished filming, covered in mud. One of them had parked across the road and literally stopped traffic as he sauntered over. So cool .
