Afternoon all. I'm going to join the "baby asleep on me" club if I may, I need to go out soon, but when we went out at naptime yesterdau she stayed awake all day, so I'm going to let her kip till we need to leave.

Oh - I got some gloves for Izzy the other week, but she won't keep them on. Any bright ideas out there? I've sewed socks over the end of her sleeves this morning (really rush job, as she was trying to help!) as it is freezing out there even in these southern climes ;) It looks really silly though - will do for today, but I want to unpick and find a more sensible solution in the long run.

Might see about getting Izzy a funeral outfit too? We have a few nice outfits ready for christmas parties, but I don't want to "spoil" them and feel like I then can't put her in them for a party too iyswim? Might have a look while I'm out. Oh and i'm filling empty small coke bottles with different kinds of rattly things, so want to go to the craft shop for a few bits. It will be mostly pasta and nails and things we already have, but I might get some jingle bells or something :)

re: gloves, we have the same problem. I just don't pull her hands completely through the arms of her snowsuit and at least they are a little protected. If shes in her pram I try and pull the cover over them - often to much protest by LO!

re: shakers. I use empty milk cartons (the small ones) and have one with rice, one with pasta shapes and one with lentils in. Buttons make a good noise too. :D
hi everyone - we're still alive but just been really busy the last few days! Quick question how much would you pay for a 2nd hand jumperoo? Theres one local to me and they've said £45 on a buy it now (ebay). How much use will Reece get out of it? He loves a bouncer thing they've got at the childrens centre so considering it

that was the going rate when I looked a few months ago - depends on condition - but if its in a good state then I would say thats the going rate :D

  • Morning everyone, hope everyones ok? Jasmines been playing with an empty box for over a hour lol, she cried when i tried taking it away, shes got awful nappy rash at the mo i just want to cry when i see it, it looks like blisters and looks as though its oozing, ive tried sudocrem and another cream, just been chemist and got mohurlin so hope that helps!

Workinmummy - Jasmine had awful cradle cap it looked really red and sore, the shampoo didnt help much to be honest, i ended up getting some cream, a bit messy but that made an improvement, she ended up losing all her hair when the cradle cap flaked off tho! i'll see if i can find a link to the cream i used, x

Our health trust called an 8-12 month check - I think when they actually do it varies quite a bit.

Anyone think of anything I need to be aware of when thinking of neighbour as CM?
My mum child minded for our next door neighbour when I was little and they ended up falling out.

Tigs, is it the standard newborn hearing test or a special one?
I had to feed Ed at his because it was the only way to keep him still and quiet :p whislt whispering to Chris to shut up because he was nattering away constantly
Kinda normal but additional? The results were inconclusive at the normal test, and they don't know if that's a problem with him or the surroundings on the day. So back we go for the standard test again. I'm taking Marley as he can always get Andrew to fall asleep - I think I'll ban myself from the room, as I never shut up!

How unfair that you all seem to have overly sleepy babies!

Elijah kicked off around 1.30am, very miserable wailing. 25 minutes of cuddling and he still wouldn't be put down. Tried letting him cry for 5 minutes, no good, more cuddles, no good, despaired put him down and let him cry himself to sleep :(:(:( which took maybe another 20 minutes. Lay awake another 20 mins expecting him to start wailing again. Then at 4.30 he woke wailing and miserable... put him in bed for OH to feed, they dozed a bit, 5.30 put him back in bed. He eventually got up at 7.15.

Now OH tells me he has been an unsettled nightmare all morning, emptying the bin, scattering carrot sticks up and down the hall, filling the washing machine with whatever toys he could find, screaming when anything is taken away from him, then finally lunging between her legs to stick his hands into the toilet while she was bleaching it  None got on him but somehow (...god knows how...) in her panic to avoid him she got some bleach on her face....

    Gah!

Belt-and-braces approach here - Andrew gets mittens, and then his arms aren't pulled fully through the snowsuit (coz they don't reach) - it means the mittens stay on inside the sleeves!

    Hello stranger!
I just make sure its soaked in the bath and then once out of bath but still wet, comb the hair lots while applying a bit of pressure to loosen it all.
The cause of cradle cap is basically lack of friction wearing away dead skin so just combing brushing rubbing often should get rid of it eventually :)

Thanks Sami and Jakesmummy. Will have to persevere in getting rid of it, and will call at boots to try the cream.

    And hello to Searching.

So hard this morning to get Joe up and ready for school, bottles sterelised, bag packed, me up and looking presentable and car de-frosted.
Luckily Alex was still asleep, so i put him straight into his snow suit and into the car, so missed his breakfast feed. I am so not looking forward to this everyday in from January, looks like i am going to have to get myself well and truly organised. The life of a workinmummy of two is not going to be easy..........
