I think it was MoneyMaker who was asking the other day about how much milk babies should have.
I've just had an email from BabyCenter which has this link in it. If the figures are correct, Caitlin isn't having enough.
She's 13lb 9oz which means she should be having between 33.75 and 36.45 oz per day (I used 13.5 lbs in my calculation).
She has four 180ml bottles of formula a day. 180ml is 6.3oz, so that's 25.2oz. She is BF in the morning but I can't see her getting more than 6oz from me (and that's probably a generous guess), so that makes 31.2oz. However, she left 2oz of her bedtime bottle tonight, making her consumption today around 29.2oz.
So, if those figures are correct, she should be having another feed or another bottle each day.
I'm not going to give her any extra as I don't think she needs it. She certainly doesn't seem hungry in the day (if she wakes up in the night needing a feed like she did Sun, Mon and Tues I BF her so she'll have a bit extra then). She's just under the 25th percentile so is OK for weight too.
So, now I've posted that link, it's probably best to take it with a pinch of salt0 -
Choppy, if she was 100% breastfed then you wouldn't know how much she was getting... As long as she's happy, healthy, settled and growing then she's getting enoughA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Yeh, that's it and she is all of those (at at the moment anyway...I'm sure she'll be unsettled and not happy at some point tomorrow)

Oh, speaking of weight, Rhys has lost 1.5oz since Monday
Might have something to do with the rather full in all senses nappy about an hour before being weighed (he was lying on my knee as he filled it - not pleasant!)

Ah good point, it is a fairly big syringe full, some babies are fine with it though....I always just shoved it in the bottle:)Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

where? on the sofa? I cant do this with Christopher as Katie is always about, and loves her liuttle brother to bits, so know that she would be up on the top of him trying to give him hugs n kisssess!!!
Pram is too huge for the living room (double in front of one another) and would get in the way of Katie playing? :cool:Krystaltips wrote: »If I'm home and Caitlyn needs a nap, I tend to take her and lie on the bed with her until she's asleep... Then I shuffle off and leave her (or relax with her for a while) It's ok at the moment because she doesn't move at all when she's asleep... Don't know what I'm going to do when she starts shuffling round and rolling over...
ooohhh.....i remember days like that. I used to do it when I had Katie too. Life is soooooo much different with a toddler and a baby!!i know what my problem is and when it started, it was when my nephew died and i cant get over it, i have talked to people and they just look at me when i talk about it so i have stopped?? i go to the cemetry twice a year on my own have a good cry then come away. there are other thing obviously but i know it all stems from this? talking on here is amazing you lot are fantastic but i need to get my head around all of this and am unsure how??
wish i had words of wisdom for you caz! ((Hugs)) and hope you can get something sorted out to talk about it and stuff! You know that each of us are here to talk abut it. When my grandma died, I wrote, i suppose like a letter, and just put everything i was feeling and thinking in it and sent it to my friend and it helped me. I didnt want her to ask me about it, and actually we never talked about it, but it just made me feel a bit better knowing that someone else knew how I was feeling! Did any fo that make any sense!?Carla-Farla!!
