No SM, no carla, no tara, no tia, no Glam... either they're having a RL () or are lost in a mass of wrapping paper and sticky tape :p

  • I need to ask a question of the working ladies with older kids...

Benjamin seems to have developed a bad case of separation anxiety. I don't think he is upset when I am not there, and he doesn't cry when I leave him (both of which I am glad about). But when I am with him he is very clingy, crying and moaning for cuddles and getting upset when I leave the room. I think that this is also the reason that I have struggled putting him down to sleep for the last week or so too.

I know that this is all natural and I am trying to just reassure him as much as I can, but I am nervous of reinforcing his neediness IYSWIM.

He woke at about 5am this morning and I brought him into bed as usual to feed him. Normally this is a 5 or 10 minute job and then I can pop him back in his cot - either awake or asleep and he settles back down. This morning when I put him back in his cot he was sobbing and crying and I really didn't know what to do. I want to reassure him that I am there but I don't want to end up with a baby that comes into our bed every night.

As it was I left him to cry for a while, then I calmed him and put his light on and gave him his toys (he has about 6 in his cot) and left him for 10 minutes, after which I allowed him in with us when he moaned as a 'reward' for being good.

Any suggestions? Anybody been through anything similar?

Writing cards to post on Monday might be an idea, if you're going to send any Sami ;)

I just remembered, we're getting a post delivery tomorrow too.. :)

Sooooo can't wait to have all my hair chopped off. Need to straighten it properly beforehand but I'd best leave it until tomorrow - had too much wine tonight to be trusted with hot stuff! :o

Am watching Love Actually but only just turned it over so missed half of it :( Going to flick through the tv guide and find out what else is on when. Saw that The Holiday is on sometime.. Suppose we have to wait until next Christmas for Four Christmases

  • MFD, it stops eventually is all I can say, sorry :(
I am one of the mummies that can leave a baby to cry for a bit though, I personally dont think it does them much harm, would never let them scream, but cry a little, yes, so when Jas got like that she got put back in bed and I just kept going into her every 10 - 20 mins or so till she settled. But it was slightly easier for me as she didnt have a middle of the night feed, but she was up later instead. I gave her her last feed about 8 / 8.30 and she slept through till 7ish in the morning.
