oooh elle well done on your training starting soon :) how will that work out for when you go back to work? what is it you're doing exactly? just being nosy :)

Training is only for 5-6wks so finished by the time I go back to work and I'll then just fit visits around work. Should be working 2-3 days a week. They want me to do the training but more focusing on expressing so I can see new mums in SCBU who are having to express and help with tips and motivation from a been-there point of view. They haven't got any exclusive expressers trained so I didn't have anyone to call up for help locally - Krystal and Google were my help! :D

    fanatastic.

will you deal with just SCBU or all mums who for whatever reason are expressing rather than breastfeeding?

until i started expressing i never realised how hard it actually is. and ilm sure for SCBU mums it will be fab to have someone like you to talk to and explain it all.
for me the hard part was the feeding then expressing for the next feed. it was taking over an hour each time and i was shattered after a week of it. i truly admire anyone who expresses exclusively.

Anyone who wants the help I guess, it's just that the majority are on SCBU. It'd just be nice to give something back.. there are a few nurses who are trained in BFing support but they're not always on shift when you need them so I'd hope they'd be able to call on me if someone wants a chat etc - sometimes it's not the "how to do it" info, it's the motivation to carry on that you need (well, I did anyway!) :)

In my case, by renting an [STRIKE]industrial strength[/STRIKE] hospital grade pump for £40 a month! Not very MSE really but hey ho! :o

i dont know how you do it either, i tried to keep expressing when seth started monstering at each feed, but i only lasted about 2 days, it was just too much for me :o i struggled to find the time to look after him and express as well, as each time i put him down to express he would get upset and want a cuddle!

  • Not sure if its on the English news or not, probably not, but there was a 28 year old man beated to death outside a nightclub in the town next to me at the weekend. I know the guy, well knew him, but not very well, and they have just released the name of the accused and I know all 3 of them too !! Thankfully I would never say I was friends with any of them, but I am aware of who they all are !!

That is the hardest part, even now :o I'm down to two sessions in the day until OH gets home then I can do three in the evening cos he's here to look after Rhys, but when i was doing it every three hours and OH was out 7am to 5pm it was tough

MM, that's terrible! (that it's happened, let alone that you know of them) :(

MrsMoc, lush boots! I treated myself to a new pair of flat boots the other week (these - and they've gone down by a tenner now, gutted!). Was going to take them into town with me today to get better grips on the soles (apart from the heel, they're shiny on the soles - I did the splits on the carpet so I'm not going out the house in them!) but I forgot them :( Will take them tomorrow.
  • no just knew him to see. They are all from here and the town next to me which is where we all drink. The club he got beat up outside of is where I used to work !!
Just a very strange situation all round.

Mrs M they are lovely !! I am off now to meet my mum to look for a new pair for me for christmas !!
    Catch you all later xx
