    Oooh someone told me I could possibly apply for a community care grant for my new place, for things like carpets, wonder if it's true, that would be a help.

    AM, definitely. My sister moved house under similar circumstances to you and she got about £600!! She told them she needed everything - carpets, curtains, washing machine, cooker - everything essential! You just need to really lay it on when filling in the form, don't miss anything out, cos they find any excuse not to pay you the amount you want. I got a copy of the form but i didn't bother filling it in cos i wouldn't be entitled, but it was like the spanish inquisition :eek:
